Hi all -First some background: I'm planning my first ever WDW trip for sometime next year so please help in any way you can. I've done DL many times so I am familiar with MK layout / FP /etc. We will only be at WDW for 2 days / 1 night and We will only be going to the MK and maybe Animal Kingdom.
I *think* we want to stay at the Grand Floridian but have heard its just okay.
Since we will only be there for a short time I don't want to waste time taking the bus so the resort has to be close (monorail or boat).
So here's where I need help.....
1) What hotel do you recommend?
2) Anyone know what type of discount does a AAA card give you on Deluxe Hotel rooms?
3) Any suggestions for tickets? We will most likely be back in that area w/in the year but I don't know if I want to invest $$$ in AP's.
4) Any great trip planning tips? How do YOU save $$$ on WDW hotel rooms?
Thank you so much for any help as I am so lost planning this one!! :D

Well for the monorail you'd want the Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian, or the Polynesian. By boat, you can stay at the Wilderness Lodge. I think most people like the Poly or WL because it is better themed than the Contemporary and not as expensive as the GF. I'd recommend the WL.

AAA discounts vary based on resort and season. I think you can get anywhere between 10-20% discount. AAA can give you a booklet that lays out the options very well. If you or your spouse is in the military or works as a DoD government employee, the Shades of Green offers pretty good discounts. See www.shadesofgreen.org .

If you have an AP you can sometimes get good discounts as well. For more info on discounts, see www.mousesavers.com/ for some great information.

Finally, you may want to take a look at the Budget Board as they also have people asking similar questions on the best way to save $$$.

Thanks! Neither of us works for the Gov or Military.

I will check out the Budget Board! I live at Mousesavers.com :)
