If we are thinking of going to Disneyland next June, are we crazy? I know NOTHING about Disneyland, DW YES, here NO. Does it take the same effort of DW? What about crowds, similar to DW during the summer? We are just looking at 2 days, probably not staying on resort.

Hi there. We've been to WDW 4x and went to DL for the first time last January. DL takes about 10% of the effort that WDW does, IMO. Much more relaxing overall and lots of fun. Not sure about June crowds, but as much as we love WDW, I wouldn't mind going back to DL again. :goodvibes

IMO, no need to stay 'on property' when the rates are better off property, and, I think actually closer. We stayed at the Park Vue Inn directly across the street. From closing the door on our room and walking to the DL entry, I'm guessing it was 6 minutes tops. VERY different than WDW, which was a very nice perk.

Have fun!:tink:

I agree with the PP about staying off property not being a problem. I stayed at the Park Vue Inn and loved it.

I would invest in the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland. It was great pointing our the similarities and differences from WDW.

Now for planning - I think that DL needs a bit more planning than WDW. Probably because there are fewer fast passes available and if your goal is to be able to ride certain attractions you'll want to plan for it. Additionally there are a lot fewer table service spots to dine so if you want to sit down for a meal you'll want to make reservations ahead of time.

While we love WDW, DL is a much more relaxed vacation without the need to take a bus everywhere. HEAVEN!

June crowds are tricky. Because local APs are about to be blocked for the summer. Also the new Carsland is supposed to open next summer, but we really don't know when. If it opens during or right befor your stay it could increase crowds exponentially.

Try for 3 or 4 days. 2 wouldn't be enough. DLR is smaller in size than WDW but has almost the same number of attractions.

Do pay attention to the AP blockouts especially SoCal APs. You don't want to go right before thier summer blockout begins. When DCA has it's grand reopening is unknown so you can't really plan to avoid it until much closer, it's just a gamble. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/

Skip buying a book and read The DLR Guide for WDW Vets. It's free.

Planning wise the only things that will make it more difficult is, how to get to the resort. How to navigate two unfamiliar parks. Not knowing the official schedule until two month before a trp. Getting out of the WDW mindset.

Dining is much easier. Less to choose from and nothing close to the WDW demand for ADRs. DLR reservation can only be made 60 days out.
