Is there somewhere I can go where I put in my dates and it will give me the earliest time I can call for reservations? I know I can figure it out but I'm being lazy. :teeth:

I reccomend your calandar. Checking out on Dec. 7th? Call on Jan. 7th.

Duh - for some reason I was confused with the seven month window. I was thinking that the number of days in each month made a difference but I guess not. Thanks

It actually does somewhat. For example you can make a 7 month reservation for September 27, 28, 29 and 30 on February 28. If the month you are making the reservation for has more days than the month you are in, you can always make them until the end of that month and not wait for March 1 for example.

Check out Caskbill's planners. Here's a Link.

Thanks, That's what I thought. It's not as easy as it seems. The reason I was worried is because I want to try to get HH in the summer and I wanted the first possible date I could call. You have been a great help!

If you go to the DVC Member website and click on my points, it will tell you when you can use which points to make a reservation at your home resort and at another resort.

I've always wondered why it's based on your check out date instead of your check in date? It seems to me that this would penalize the person with a longer trip planned. Say, you want to stay at a very popular resort that isn't your home resort and you call at the 7 month window. The person staying only 5 days gets to make their reservation before the person staying 10 days, right? I guess this is where calling day by day comes in, but still it seems to favor the person with a shorter trip. Forgive me if I'm not making sense or if I'm missing something really simple here....I'm nursing a head cold right now and my thinking process may be a little bit fuzzy. :)

Following your line of thinking, wouldn't then the person that has an earlier check-in date have an advantage?

The current system is fair IMHO. Especially considering that you do have the option to day by day call if you want.

That's why some people call day by day to make sure they get that special reservation.

So, how annoyed does MS get with the day-by-day ressies? Once all the days are reserved eventually is the whole ressie put together or is it separated out based on the daily ressies?

When you call for the first night, just let MS know what you are going to do. They can even tell you then how it looks for the next days.

Thanks for the info, Deb and Bill! :thumbsup2

So I just figured it out and guess what. I'm going to be on a cruise for the 7 month window of my vacation. AGGGHHHHHH :confused3 I guess I'll just have to wait till i get home to call and hope for the best. :guilty:

Funhouse8,
I have never been on a cruise before, so I am not sure of satellite availability, but can you use a cell phone?

The first day I can because we will be in key West but then we are going out to sea and then Mexico. If I do get service not sure what the roaming fees would be. :scratchin
