Hello again DIS'rs! We're so excited to start planning our last trip before our Deluxe AP's expire in early September. So we're planning for mid- to late-August and I could really use your help!

First of all, I went to the Disneyland site to see what the hours are and if they'll be changing at all as it gets later in the month. But I guess I'm checking too early because August hours weren't available. Do they keep the long summer hours right up through Labor Day?

Also, we're on a very tight budget this time. I checked the HoJo Ent. rate and it's only available Aug 13-17th during our window. The 15th is a blockout day for us so that would mean no DL on that Saturday. Any suggestions for inexpensive lodging (def'ly under $100/night) within walking distance? And if I should book online or call directly with the place you suggest to get the best price? Walking distance is a must - we do not want to deal with ART or driving/parking.

When can the So. Cal. AP'rs can start going again and how do you think that will affect crowds? Also wondering if waiting until very end of August would be better since many will have started school by then...

Basically just trying to strategize hotel pricing, crowd levels, and park hours to get the best combo.

Thanks in advance for your input! :lovestruc

I would love to know this too since we are also going in august. I hope the hours will still be the same as now thru labor day!

Can you do priceline and put that in? I have never used priceline

we are going from the 19th thru the 26th, Im hoping a lot of the kids are back in school. and that we can still play late in the parks!

You could try Desert Inn and Suites, it's right across the street. Rooms are pretty good/clean but the pool not so much. I don't think anything but staying on site can beat the HOJO pool.

I always see the menage under 100.00 ,I stayed there when it was a different name and we loved it.

We have ressies for HoJo in 3 weeks (mid-July) and with our AP's our rate was $92 or 93 dollars. (I have been able to get 2 of the nights changed to Ent. RAte) You get a 20% discount if you mention your AP when you make your ressies through in-house reservations. You also have to show your AP when you check in if you use that rate. I would imagine that mid August would be about the same peak season as mid July. :confused3 Have you called them to ask what rates they have available? Also, keep checking the HoJo Ent. Rate calendar since they add dates about once a week or so. I keep hoping that my other date will pop up on the calendar and I can get the Ent. Rate for all 3 of my days in July.

Aug. 15 is the last black out date for SoCal and for the Select it's Aug. 16.

HTH! :flower3:

Oooh, ouch. I definitely don't think I want to plan to be at DL right when the local AP'rs can get back in. Ok, so maybe I'll book the HoJo at the 20% AP rate for late LATE August. If they add the Ent. rate for those dates later I can always call and get the lower rate.

Can anyone confirm (or show me where to check) to see about what the hours for DL will probably be for the end of August?

Sheraton Park hotel has $99 rates posted on their website for August...however, they do charge $12 for parking...

Thanks so much!!

Personally I would not worry too much about the AP blockout lifting. Be aware of it and work around it if you can, but I would not let it be the dominant consideration.

Last year hours started to be cut back late August. I would expect that again this year. Here was the Aug 2008 schedule:

Well if it holds true this year only the last 3 days of my trip will be a closing at 10:00 pm. good, I can get some sleep  As long as I have some nights that go until midnight I will be happy. good info Hydroguy :) thank you so much !!

Ooh, thank you. That really helps!! Ya, I think I'd rather have the longer hours than worry about the local AP'rs.
