Hi all,

Well I am planning our memories 10 year vow renewal for April of next year. We or I should say I because the wife does not know yet booked the site at the Polynesian. I originally thought I could surprise her but then the more I think Through dresses, clothes for our two sons, limo, etc it's too much to pull off.

I have a ton of questions and maybe someone who has done this can help.

1) for a ten year vow renewal do you exchange some sort of ring again?
2) our sons are 3 and 6 and they would be so thrilled seeing this especially because they think mommy is a princess at Disney already. They love watching our wedding video. What role should we have them play? Ring bearers or have them walk her down?

3) what add ons has everyone used in the past?

4). We will most likely pick the lio because the decorating of the room is a great idea but with two boys there I think the limo ride wold be better and more fun for them?

5) since our time will be 9 am at poly where can we go for a nice lunch or late breakfast and how do we add a small wedding cake?

Thank you so much for your input!

You should check out MrRomance's PJ he has also planned a surprise Memories VR although his wife has now found out.

Some people get new wedding rings but i'd say its up to you.

First of all, :thanks: Claire for suggesting my PJ! I don't know how much use I'll be seeing my surprise got blown, but I'm happy to help if I can!

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions but here is my take for what it's worth!

I managed to keep it a secret for a while, but the dress I ordered was slightly too small. Therefore, my advice would be to plan all the elements you can confidently plan, and then spring the surprise when the going gets tough! The wedding itself is not too difficult, but dresses are a minefield for sure, my friend!:rotfl2:

1) for a ten year vow renewal do you exchange some sort of ring again?

You don't HAVE to exchange rings but you can discuss this with whoever you choose to officiate your VR. We have booked Rev. Tim Herring (who comes highly recommended and features on the DFTW list. When you contact him, he will give you a form to complete and you can say if you're going to do rings or not, whether you want a sand/unity candle ceremony etc. I don't know your circumstances, but I have opted to give my wife an eternity ring.

2) our sons are 3 and 6 and they would be so thrilled seeing this especially because they think mommy is a princess at Disney already. They love watching our wedding video. What role should we have them play? Ring bearers or have them walk her down?

This again is a matter of personal opinion. Personally, I would opt for them both to have their own "special job". Perhaps the 6 year old could walk your wife down the aisle and your little one could be the ring bearer. DFTW have a choice of ring pillows on their add-on list in the planning pack.

3) what add ons has everyone used in the past?

The add ons are REALLY limited with the Memories Collection and my experience so far is that they really will not budge from the "rules". The brides bouquet has 4 or 5 different types, but we wanted my wife's one to be green, blue and white, in line with our colours and were told that we can either have blue and white or green and white! Even the offer to pay extra didn't move them on this.

You can have a flower petal semi-circle, which we wanted to do but we're at the Poly too (Luau Beach) and were told that they often get blown away in the wind! Most of the add-on's are photography, video and some extra floral items.

4). We will most likely pick the lio because the decorating of the room is a great idea but with two boys there I think the limo ride wold be better and more fun for them?

You don't HAVE to pick! I wanted both, because I felt it would be nice for my wife to have the limo but also wanted the in-room celebration to be there when we return after our reception. Our coordinator said that it would go down as the in-room celebration and we would be charged ($95 I believe) an hour for the limo. It just gives a little romance to the whole thing having the celebration and for the extra $300, I figured it was worth it.

5) since our time will be 9 am at poly where can we go for a nice lunch or late breakfast and how do we add a small wedding cake?

The reception/meal was the hardest part for me. I wanted something private and intimate, not an ADR with everyone else. Our ceremony is at 3pm though. You can walk from the beach to the Poly or the GF so those are the easiest options. I took a different (and far more expensive) route and booked a private event. This might be a good option for you if you're going to have other guests.

We have 6 (Wife, Daughter, Wife's Cousin, Wife's Best Friends, and Wife's friends boyfriend) but if you have more than this, I would definitely recommend a private event. Website for them is www.disneycateredevents.com. Our one is quite OTT, we have booked the patio during Fantasmic for a dinner and dessert party. Not cheap but they had some other options for 6. :worship: Lurkyloo (Carrie) is a great resource for this if you're interested her website is http://disneytravelbabble.com/

Hope this helps but if there is anything else you want to ask, I'll do my best! Good Luck, and I'm sure you'll enjoy planning your big day!
