Planning on Buying DVC

We are going to DW at the end of January and plan on buying DVC. I'm hearing a lot about incentives. Can anyone explain that to me? Can I push for incentives or is it just certain times when they give you incentives? Also, is there any hidden charges we should be on the look out for? Any help would be appreciated as we are brand new at this.

We bought some points earlier this year. The approach is very straight forward & simple. We got no surprises. Just make sure you ask about the yearly membership fee, closing costs, ability to finance on your own, ask how to pay your membership fees. Incentives aare fixed. If thay are available you will get them. therer is usually a $10 discount per point for SSR and & 8 per point for AKL. There may be developer points as well. Make sure you know which year you are buying into and how the use year works. All these things are part of the presentation, but be sure you understand them before you leave.
Congrats, you will be very happy if you visit WDW at least every 2 years.

We are also going to tour Dvc in Jan. We have already contacted a guide and they have sent us all the paperwork with pricing etc. He did mention it could change for Jan but he doubted it.

For AKL it is $8 off a point SSR is $10 off a point. 160 is the min if you buy through Disney. If you buy 225 pts or over you also get 160 "developer" pts for one time use with a dvc member referral. I say call DVC and get all the info sent to you so you are eductated before you get there and these boards are sooo helpful as well.
