Basic information: I am going to OKW on points in Jan 2010, my parents are meeting us down there, paying cash. I am going to purchase my passes from undercover tourists, and my folks are doing a package from disney directly. Initially we were planning on doing a 5 day passes, we have since decided to go down early and now need 6 day passes. However, we are still only staying at okw as planned. Staying in a condo in advance of OKW. I am wondering if my folks can get their passes changed to 6 day and sent to us in advance. I am use to getting our tickets when we check in. Also will we have problems that we are all buying DDP for the five nights we are staying at OKW. I hope my questions make some sense.

Depending on your vacation habits you might want to consider 10 day non-expiring passes. They are less expensive per day than 5 or 6 day passes.

You need to compare a 1 day ticket through Disney to the cost of a 1 day ticket through UCT.

What type of problem do you expect with your DDP? Care to elaborate.

I assume when you say your parents are booking a package through Disney that you mean it includes DDP. If that is the case, they have to buy at least 1 day passes to be eligible. They can choose to buy any number of days they wish (up to 10), but they will not be able to get these passes in advance. However, if that first night is not at a Disney property, they won't be able to get those passes (or the dining plan credits) until the day they check into their Disney resort.

My advice would be to have your parents get 1-day base tickets with their package and order 6-day passes from UT. Buy the base tickets from them and hang on to them for some future trip when you can upgrade them. (perhaps for a future AP purchase if that's a possibility) This way they won't have any issues with park admission on the vacation day before checking in at WDW.

I don't see that there would be any problem with purchasing DDP - what problem are you worried about?
