Hi there!!! I am hoping someone can help me. I am planning a trip to disneyworld in August 2008 and from what everyone is saying the best thing to do is to start planning early. We have booked a room only reservation at the Polynesian and know I have to call back in October to book the rest of the package. I want to start planning our days but was wondering about how far in advance disney announces what the extra magic hours are for each park or do they stay the same year round? Is it pointless to start planning this early . . .I can't even make my adr's until Feb. I know its early and I am trying to not overplan everything, but I'm just so excited! This will be our first trip to disney with our kids! Thanks so much!

Park hours and extra magic hours (EMH) are announced 6 months ahead of time;for August 2008, the hours should be released on February 1, 2008.

We plan early too. We use the prior year hours for the same month and day (not date) as our next trip. They usually stay similar, but you never know when Disney will announce a new special event or system which can mess up your plans, so plan away but be sure to leave room for change. Then you can tweak or should the need arise majorly revise your plans in February when official hours are released.

We're going in August too and it will be the first time for my husband and children! I know what you mean, as I too am planning all ready. So far, I have a complete itinerary written up with mock adrs, but will change as needed when the official disney hours come out. :thumbsup2 Hey, it really is almost as fun to plan as to go. Almost. :cool2:

Probably being so far in advance, the best thing at the moment you can do to keep yourself looking forward to your trip is to buy yourself a book or two, which will help you understand the smaller things you can do to save time and which attractions you'd like to see/do etc.

I bought (well, had imported) two books to me, these were 'Passporter' and 'The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World' and I have to say these are full of information and give little tips and ideas to add extra Disney magic to your trip before and also once you are there :goodvibes

Hope this helps a little, and enjoy the build-up to going, I sometimes think this is one of the most exciting times!

I bought the book Walt Disney World with Kids 2007. It is FULL of great tips and advice. The author is Kim Wright Wiley and I've found it worth every penny.
