Woohoo, DH has said he'd like to go to the Star Wars weekends next year....

Looking at my calender I'm thinking 9-19 May (cause of public holidays here in Europe). I'm also thinking of splitting the trip WDW/Vero so as not to give DH a WDW-OD ;)

How hard would it be to get BWV and Vero for that time at 7 months out?

Also should we decide to move it to later in May..

When is memorial day? Is it always the last Monday in May? and how are the crowds in that weekend?

Thanks,
JJ Penguin

Penguincruiser,
I can't help you with most of your questions (BWV availability, crowds on Memorial Day), but I just wanted to let you know that we will be at WDW May 5-17 next year!!! I'm hoping we catch a glimpse of your penguin friend! :)

ohiominnie :p

p.s. OD-ing on WDW isn't such a bad thing! :)

Penguincruiser:
We were at WDW and Vero this year in May. Vero appears to be no problem to get at the 7 month window. Do it! You won't be sorry. We'd never been to Vero before, but we will go back again! It was the most beautiful, relaxing place.

Looks like Memorial Day is May 27th next year, if that helps. We actually covered that weekend this year. There was a noticeable difference in crowds over Memorial Day. It wasn't totally unmanageable, but it was VERY crowded. Seemed to drop off again right after the weekend was over. If I could go a couple of weeks earlier, as in your original plan, I sure would. Crowds are lighter and weather is at least a bit cooler.

Hi penguincruiser--I think I can answer most of your questions. DH and I were at both VB and BWV for the middle-to-end of May. It was a wonderful time to go!!! I realize you were concerned with booking VB and BWV with only 7 months out but we got our ressies 2 weeks out--it was a spur of the moment trip. ;) Anyway--VB was not crowded AT ALL!! We had the pool to ourselves almost at some points. You will love VB. The BWV were a little more crowded than VB but still not very busy. The parks were not bad either. Restaurants were not busy at all and I don't think we waited to eat anywhere!!! I think you have a good shot of getting your days in. If necessary, I would use the waitlist--it works very well. Don't hesitate to secure your days elsewhere (OKW or WLV) and then sit on the list for BWV to open up...because you can change your stay through MS.

I would try to schedule the vacation to JUST before memorial day...that way you can JUST beat any potential crowds. Either way, it's a great time to go!! Nice weather too. Good luck!! And more important, HAVE FUN!!
:D

This year we were at WDW from 5/18-5/27 (on property from 5/20 on) and could not believe how light the crowds were. We have always found May to be a great time to visit but this year was the best. Even on the 27th which was part of Memorial Day weekend, we visited Epcot and we didn't wait in any lines for anything. The transportation ran great (never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus). I think May would be a great time for your family to visit.

Have fun planning!

Thanks for the answers! It sounds like it should be a great trip.

I was thinking of moving it to round Memorial day as the Starwars film might premier then and DH would love that! But so long date's aren't sure for that I'll stay with the dates that give me the extra vacation days!
