Planning for 4 people who need 4 different places to sleep!

Hello everyone!

I'm new here - my mom and I have been going to Disney once or twice every two years for as long as I can remember, and on our most recent trip I finally dragged her to one of the DVC presentations. A week and some planning later, and we're members at Saratoga Springs! Words can't describe how exited about the next 47 years!

We're already looking to plan a trip, and I've got a question:

We're looking to stay for a week of "cheap time" in January (Sunday - Thursday). We're hoping to go with some close family friends, so it would be myself and my friend (both of us 19 year old boys/guys/men (or somewhere in-between!) and our two mothers.

The question is: How do we find enough room for us without blowing the points budget! The vacation club rooms seem to come with alarmingly few beds... still just one (big) bed and a sleepr sofa in the one bedroom! My mom called this morning, and apparently Disney doesn't have any kinds of cots or roll away beds? We'd definitely need 4 separate "sleeping places" - preferablly two in one room and two in the other so our moms can get to sleep at a reasonable hour and my friend and I can stay up and/or out without disturbing them!

I'm fine with the floor, and my guess is my friend would be too - but it still seems like there should be a better way to work this out without having to spring for a 2 bedroom? And even then, would it still only be 3 beds?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

How about 2 studios at Old Key West, that way there would be 4 real queen sized beds.

I agree with Chuck.

A SSR 2Br would be 135 pts in Jan. Two SSR studios would be 110. Two OKW studios would be 80.

Since you're all adults, you could even use one studio for the moms, and one for you. Even less chance of disturbing each other.

I agree with two studios but think that any resort would be fine as long as the you and your friend are OK on sleep sofas which are in studios in the other resorts.

But OKW and SSR are the best for saving points too. Perhaps SSR would be better for night time options for you and your friend though.

Thanks for the replies! That's definitely a good idea worth looking into.

We love the Epcot area resorts for being walking distance to Epcot and all of the food and activities in the area are great... maybe two standard view studios at Boardwalk?

Thanks again!

two standard view studios will have a queen bed and a full pullout in each room. However, they can be very difficult to get - they often book fully before the seven month window - and studios book quickly. A lot of BW owners own at the BW because of the availability of Standard View rooms. I wouldn't count on two SV studios being available.

DH, myself, 3 DS's and DBIL's are going down for the seven day cruise in January and will be staying for three nights after we return from the cruise. I already tried BWV standard view for studios for the couples and they were not available. We own at SSR and love it there, just thought I would save some points because we aren't charging the family for their studios. We don't care for the studios at OKW because we want the couch for watching TV so we opted for SSR. I'm not disappointed, because we love it there, but it would have been fun to try something different. Oh well, maybe someother time when it is just DH and myself.

Good luck with your planning and reservations. I do think the studios are the answer. Everyone has their own place to go back to for some private down time if they need it. I agree that SSR would be convenient for your after park activities and there are lots of good places to eat there also. The Mom's can shop if they want and then walk back to SSR or catch the launch.

I agree with the 2 studios suggestion.

If you are looking for BWV Std view studios in January 2007, better hurry up and call to book. There may be some available depending on your dates. I had to call to "tweek" a reseervation and MS had some available at the END of January 2007.

They go FAST and openings are usually due to cancellations. If you can only get one std.vw studio, get a second pref.vw studio. Don't forget to request that they be close together.

Good luck.

I also agree with the 2 studios at OKW.

The two studio option sounds great, except that Disney doesn't seem to be able to be able to promise they would be next to each other. It would be better to "squeeze" into a 1 bedroom than to be halfway across the resort from each other!

Does anybody have experience on keeping a multi-room group together?

I would say the 2 studios would be best. Then you both have separate rooms altogether. Also check the price for that time of year. You may get a better deal than using points by staying at one of the AS's or PC. They might even have free dining.

when you make the reservation ask that the studio be close together ....now I don't - my relatives and I don't often agree - the further away from me they are - the better the relationship.....

in both OKW and SSR that is generally the same building - not the same floor - just the same building (or one near to it)

BWV is very strange - giving a room on the same floor - just a couple of door down - and going to another floor so they are under or above you.... guess which BWV picks....

if you want BWV go for it. Just because others were unlucky doesn't mean you won't get it.... if you don't, get on the waitlist. there is lots of time between now and Jan. get a reservation at SSR or OKW as a back up. Be sure MS knows to cancel your SSR if your BWV comes thru.

But then who gets the king and who gets the sleep sofa? And would both guys be on the floor? Plus two families would be sharing the bathroom. :confused3 If I were your mom, I would be hoping for a studio for each family. Privacy and yet you could still get together even if the rooms were not really close.

BTW, my understanding is that DVC won't provide extra bedding so you would need to bring that as well.

But it sounds like a fun trip. Happy planning. :sunny:
