Hi everyone! We're planning a trip for June 2021. This Sunday will be the 499 day mark for us. My kids have their hearts set on Animal Kingdom Lodge. Should we book a room-only reservation and go through the process of cancellation/rebooking when packages come out? Or should we just wait until packages are available? I chatted with a cast member on the website and they suggested that we book now and go through the process but I'm wondering what others suggest doing. Thanks!

I'd wait until the 2021 rates/packages are released as I don't think you'll have any trouble getting what you want. Waiting to book will save you the hassle of cancelling/waiting for your RO deposit to be refunded/rebooking a package. If you do book RO now, you don't really need a package as you can always buy tickets separately and just link them to MDE (unless you wanted the DDP, in which case you'd need a package).

Are you looking to do a regular resort room or a DVC room? That can change when you'll be able to book so that's why I ask. ( DVC is only 11 months out ).

If you are looking for a Value room, I'd look at the 499 mark as they are very hard to come by. Just note, with any packages sometimes some room types are not included in the discount.

I don’t believe you can get a DVC value room for cash at all, let alone at 499 days.

I’d say if you know where and when you want to stay definitively, go ahead and book ASAP just to be sure you have what you want booked. You can always change things later. Rooms can book up pretty quickly sometimes.

If you know what you want, might as well book it. That’s my motto!

So, here's my own dilemma. We are looking at June 2021. No DDP. But looking to stay about 12-14 days. Max tickets are 10-day Tix. We usually had gone full (RD to close) park days and then interspersed full rest days. This time, though, I think we might have park days every day, but have half-days and a couple quarter-days, along with one full day or so. So, still having the rest and down time, but spreading ourselves out for a more balanced trip.

So, if we need tickets for 12-14 days, what is the best suggestion? Get a RO now for our AoA family suite and purchase Tix separately? Or should we get a package when that opens with 8-10 day Tix and then separately getting another 2-6 day Tix to add on?

Info: Fam of 5 kids (16, 12, 8). No DDP. Yes for Memory Maker. PH+ for water park, mini golf.
FWIW, DW and DS11 will be returning for about 4-5 days in October for just them. Would an AP be the right call for them? We also are not in a position to pay in full, but we can make large payments over quarterly periods of time, just not in full or more than half at a time, if that matters.

Thanks so much for help and advice!!

You are just going to have to do the math to see if an AP costs less/same. It used to be a great deal if you had that many park days, but with the most recent increase it might not be for you.

You can make payments on the FL resident APs, but you have to pay for Platinums in full.
