Hi Everyone

Next year we have a 3 week holiday booked, and it is a party of 7 (2 families). We fly from Manchester on 13 July (and it is a Friday), and our flight with MyTravel (who I believe do early check-in from Manchester?) is scheduled to leave at 10.15am.

We live in Leicestershire, and the dilemma is:

1) Do we drive up the day before and stay overnight in a hotel/B&B? If we do this, does anyone know of a a hotel/B&B that will let you park for 21 days?

2) Do we drive up on the day, which will mean leaving home at about 4.30 am? And then we have to pay for 21 days parking for which I have managed to find a price of £104.00 (which I didn't think was too bad)

3) Do we hire a car to drive up the day before, stay in hotel, and then on return hire a car for return journey?

4) Do we take a taxi for both journeys?

Any views on this? What have other people done who go for 3 weeks? All suggestions and comments gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

I guess the issue revolves around if you really want to drive home after your holiday.
If you are like us then the answer is no....we live an hour or so drive from Manchester so I guess our decision is slightly easier but we always get a taxi.

Landing back in the UK after a long flight home and having to drive through rush hour traffic would be quite demanding I am sure - personally I would go for the taxi option, although I am not sure how much that would cost you?

Personally I would take a taxi. look at cost of parking + fuel +tiredness on way home, compare with taxi, whats the differance?

If you go down the route of parking heres a way of saving £10 (if you priced for 22 days like I have).
Join rpoints (thru my link here prefferably then we both get £5 bonus)
http://www.rpoints.com/?ruid=51504 go direct if you dont want to get us both £5
when registered find the link to Holiday extras book your carpark thru there at airparks carpark £97.75 you then get 3% cashback bringing the price down to £94.82
sounds complicated but once registered use rpoints to link thru to everything you buy online.
I registered about 18 months ago and have had £224.98 cashback so far.
I get cashback on all my flights, car rentals, cruises, hotels etc.

We live in Derbyshire and although it's a straight-forward run from home to Manchester airport, we always use a taxi and stay over the night before. On the last 2 occasions we've stopped at the SAS Radisson hotel next to terminal 2. It means that we can get up at 6:30 and check our cases in by 7am and head back to our room for a (very!) leisurely breakfast before checking out at 9:30 and taking a stroll to the waiting plane.

As Wayne and Johnny have said, driving home after landing would be horrible. I've considered it in the past but I just don't think I could face it. So for next year, the same stands - taxi and hotel for us. We look at it as a great way to start our holiday!
