Planning CCV Weekend for Early December

My nieces have wanted to see Disney decorated for Christmas for years. Now that I've taken the plunge and bought into DVC, I'd like to take them to see the decorations in 2024. My sister is a teacher, and taking even one day off work is a production, so we'll need to stick to a weekend in early December. My question, as we approach the 11 month window for CCV, is if anyone has experience booking December weekends, and my best shot for room booking. We could redeye down after school, so I'm looking at a Thursday-Sunday stay or a Friday-Monday stay. We have 2024 annual passes, and this would be our last hurrah for them.

You will need to walk any studio booking in early December. If you have cabin points you won't have issues.

Probably already late to start a walk, TBH.

Surest option: Book three nights as soon as you can and walk the reservation to your desired dates.

Wilderness lodge at Christmas time is hard to get in general. We actually got our 2br we just returned from off waitlist within 7 months this year though so there is hope. I will say if you can't get CCV, try for BRV too. The new rooms are great, and a bit more spacious feeling.

😱 I’ve never walked anything, how early do you need to start walking, we’re still 2-3 weeks out from the 11mo window for early December 2024?! I’m about to finish closing on a CCV contract and I was hoping for early December too but maybe not now😅

For early December you probably needed to start walking in October.

The first two weeks of December are often unbookable at 11 months. Because everyone walks it.

BRV at 7 months is also not likely, certainly another waitlist situation. December is a whole mood.

Wow that’s dedication and I’m not sure I have it in me. Might be worth it for us to just get a 1bdrm at 11mos since those are usually a bit more available. I’ll definitely keep this in mind though thanks!

A lot of people bought CCV for December at the Lodge, but did not buy dedicated weeks. And then there are the cabin points at the resort, which are all sold but not necessarily in contracts large enough to book larger units.

You're too late to be on the front end of walkers for a studio at CCV, but you can try to follow in their footsteps. Book 3 days now, then each day get on at 8 am EST and modify your reservation to pick up the day they drop. It'll be daily work for the next few weeks, but that's probably the best chance you have. If you want a one or two bedroom, you're probably ok. We book a one bedroom over Thanksgiving every few years and I've never had to walk the reservation.

I think the challenge is a lot of the walkers are aimed at that first two weeks. There is no follow as they drop.

Keep checking every day. A lot of people are walking for Thanksgiving also, so some of those will stop their walk soon.

While I had to be there right when the booking window opened, I was able to book the second week of December easily this year. Studios were available for a few hours before availability got to zero.

Then a month later I had to modify the reservation for the third week of December and there was some availability here and there. Checked a couple times per day and in a day or two was able to switch my dates.

So even if it looks like everything is booked, don’t lose hope.
