Planning another magical 5th birthday

Yay Touring plans!! I just started going a little indepth with mine. So fun and exciting and actually a little stressful too! lol.

I like the idea of saving on parking! Would it plausible to have your parents drive back to their place with you when they pick you up and then drive home from there or is that in opposite directions?

I'm with Denovagirl and vote for chilling at the resort, swimming, exploring, etc. Travelling can be tiring and its nice to just relax up before all the running around in the parks. Maybe try some tiedye cheesecake too! :goodvibes

Hi--I'm subbing! Loving all your plans so far! You're awesome keeping it a surprise--I'm sure I would slip up!

We don't ever fly delta, but I don't know what food you can actually buy on flights anymore. If it were me, I'd just pack something or get something at the airport after you're checked in. It's fine to take food on the plane and they do still serve drinks if you don't want to have to carry one on (couldn't pack that but could get it after security). And they'll take your trash when they pick up stuff from snacks, no big deal. The only time we ever got a meal on a flight was when we went to Hawaii. Not sure how long you're flight is, but I think they just offer food on really long flights now--someone correct me if that's wrong.

Love the idea of just hanging at the resort the first night. Then you're all rested up and ready the next morning. Have fun on ME--we love it! I know it's just a bus ride, but it's a DISNEY bus ride!

Also--have you considered a cab to the airport? Sometimes it's less then paying for the parking lot. Just a thought.

If you live close enough I'd do all the crazy car hopping, saves money on the parking, which I like!

That is the only problem with the whole scenario. My parents live 45 minutes away so it is quite a bit of a drive. But if we want to do only one car at the airport we would have to do it in my car because it is the only one of the two that will fit all 6 of us... and my dad is kind of crazy about his car and won't leave it parked outside at anyone's house.
I think you are right about arrival night. Especially since we are getting in so late in the afternoon.
I can't wait to hear more about your plans too!

We basically will live halfway between my parents house and the airport! So that's a little tricky.
I know everyone thinks I'm crazy... but I don't like cheesecake. But I'm sure everyone in my family would. And they didn't try it last time so I will have to tell them how popular it is.

It is going to be so hard keeping this secret for the next 6 months! But my girls love surprises and Doug is so set on doing it... so I will do my best.

It is only a 4-5 hour flight but it does say on the ticket that there is a meal option. But the more I think about it I would imagine that it would be just as expensive as anything we could buy at the airport. I will probably just pack something at home to bring.

I have not thought about a cab. Maybe I should look into that too. Only problem is my dad won't park his car at our house since we will be living in a basement apartment so there is no garage. It is in a really nice area and our landlords upstairs are family... but he is super protective of his car.
I think I will find out exactly how much it would cost to park at our airport to make sure it wouldn't cost less than all the gas driving around..:goodvibes

YAY! Plans!!!!

reading your driving plans had me dizzy. I would take one car.. so much cheaper! :thumbsup2

Since you arrive so late i would use the time to play at the resort. If your still up and ready then i would see who has EMH that night or like you said take the trip to DTD! :thumbsup2

Last night I made up my plans for our Disney Movie Nights!

We do movie night every Saturday. This was a tradition in my family and we have kept it going. But it can be any movie and we usually take turns picking the show.
Before our last trip I wanted to make sure Abi was familiar with all of the Disney movies. We decided that each Saturday would be a Disney movie. Then I found the Disney movie night thread here on the Dis.
We had so much fun with our movie nights.
This is a picture from one of our movie nights in 2010.

DSC01110.JPG

This year, we are starting much later than we did before. I wanted to wait until we are in our own place before starting them so I still have a couple more weeks.
This seems like a lot of time and a lot of movies... but there were still so many I want to get through. So, like in a lot of things I decided to go a little overboard. :rolleyes1
We will do our regular movie night on Saturdays and then I will have a mid week movie break as well. The difference will be that the mid week afternoon movie won't be a huge themed event.

Here is my list of movies that we will be watching:
In June- Enchanted, Tangled, Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, Aristocats, Honey I shrunk the kids, Pinocchio, and Jungle Book.

In July- Brave, Muppets (not sure which one we will watch yet), The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Tarzan, any Winnie the Pooh, A bug's Life, any Sofia the first, any Mickey Mouse.
I will also watch Johnny Tremain this month around the 4th of July ( I grew up LOVING this movie. Ok. I had a crush on Johnny and his friend. )

In August- Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Sword in the Stone, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, any Tinkerbell, Great Mouse Detective, and Lilo and Stitch. I will also watch another of my childhood favorites: Swiss Family Robinson.

In September- Toy Story, Snow White, Peter Pan, Princess and the Frog, Meet the Robinsons, Dumbo, Hercules, The incredibles, and Wind in the Willows.

In October- Wreck It Ralph, Cinderella, Monsters Inc or U, Robin Hood, 3 Caballeros, Hunchback, Emporer's New Groove, Haunted Mansion and Nightmare before Christmas somewhere around Halloween.

In November- Frozen, Pocahontas, and Cars

That is SO many movies! But I think we can do it. I will post about all of our movie nights as we do them.

I love the idea of movie nights. I wish we could do them more regularly, but having DD14, DS11, and DD7, they can never agree on what to watch. :crowded:

You have some good ones on your list. I'm thinking maybe I should make a list for DW and I and the kids can join if if they want :cool1:

That's why I make the list and don't ask for input!

Now, I am just hoping that Abi doesn't get to thinking about the fact that the last time we did this exclusively with Disney movies was leading up to the last Disney vacation.

Yay movie night! Wow, the Disney movies do add up don't they?!

Great picks! I love Swiss Family Robinson! I plan on introducing the DBF to it this weekend actually(Last weekend was Mary Poppins).

Oh man! That banana split looks awesome!! :cutie:

Yes! They add up so fast. And there are so many we aren't doing! I decided to keep it to the ones I felt they would like the most, ones that are related to the parks, and our favorites.
You'll have to let us know what he thinks of Swiss Family Robinson!
And that banana split was awesome.:thumbsup2 I think it was for Jungle Book night.

LOVE MOVIE NIGHTS!!!
:cheer2:

I do too. I love reading about what others do for them. And I love having them.

Awesome! They are so much fun!

My mom takes each of her grandkids on a date every year where they can either do an activity or buy fun things... or both up to her budget amount.
Both Abi and Maddy wanted to go to Build A Bear and they wanted to go together.

I decided I would post some pictures from yesterday's date because Maddy picked a Disney related animal:

My mom with Abi and Maddy and their boxes.

Maddy has been playing the Princess Palace Pets game on my phone and she picked Cinderella's pet dog Pumpkin.

It was a really nice touch that they add a letter from the princess to the box at purchase.

It was a nice little bit of Disney for us.
:goodvibes

Cute! We own Pumpkin too, and ALL the MLP's, yeah, we have a slight BaB obsession in this house, its so bad my membership got upgraded to the "gold" because we spend so much dough in that place! :rotfl:

I love the name Pumpkin, its on my list of possible names for future pets! And how appropriate for Cinderella!

What a fun treat for your girls from their Grandma!

Awe, that's fun! And a nice time spent with grandma!

It was so much fun. They adore their grandma. My mom is so hands on with all of her grandkids and makes each one feel like they are her favorite. It is so cool.

:lmao: I love that. We are pretty obsessed too. I was so surprised that Abi picked Rarity yesterday because she doesn't have the Princess Twilight Sparkle one yet and she is her favorite pony lately. but then she told me she wants to have a Build a Bear birthday and plans on getting her then. I'm sure we will have the whole collection soon too.
While I was in there I told them I had heard a rumor that they are going to have a Frozen themed collection soon and asked if it was true. She looked like she wasn't going to answer and then said, "Well. We hope so. It is being worked out right now."

I used to have an orange cat named Pumpkin. I loved that name too. Our cats usually had crazy names though... Kaboona, Colorado, Pumpkin, Dweezil, Nugget, Garfield and Nicodemus. :)

Oh HOW CUTE!!!! i don't know any little girl who doesn't go batty in BaB!

VERY CUTE!!!!! princess:

After seeing MidnightParade's pins I decided to get another batch. I thought Abi and Maddy would probably like to have 20 each to trade. I ordered from the same ebay store. And once again was very pleased with the price, how fast I got them, and the quality of pins. :goodvibes
Here they are:
