Planning an Afternoon at Blizzard Beach

I've seen many threads questioning whether to go to the water parks or which one to go to, but I haven't seen a lot of information on what to expect once you are there. My family (including DS11 and DD8) will be spending an afternoon/evening at BB. We have morning plans and won't be able to arrive until 2 or so (the park's hours will be 10-8, going July 18th). DD is right at 48" and will probably be interested in all except maybe Summit Plummet.

My questions:
1. What should we expect the waits to be like for the major attractions? How about the smaller ones?
2. Do I need to have a strategy in mind upon arrival? What should it be?
3. How important is it to get a good chair? I can't imagine us spending much time there. Is it mostly a place to drop our things?
4. Any other helpful tips to make the best use of our time? I doubt we stay until closing.

I typically go in September, so my perspective may be different from a July visit. We've gone in the afternoon before. Lounge chairs are limited but you will find some low ground sitting chairs. We just grab a couple and put all our stuff on them. You will not find any chairs near the wave pool, look in the sand areas. I never found getting a good chair important as to us it's a place to leave our stuff. Waits for slides drop as it gets closer to closing. We've never had a game plan, we just hop in the lazy river and take it to different areas to do slides. The chair lift line will be long but it's so much better than walking up. If you don't mind separating, the single rider line will get you up faster. Make sure to do team boat springs (family raft ride), it's great.
