I recently received an increase in vacation time per year and feel blessed to now have 5 weeks of vacation every year. However I was asked to submit the time that I would like off 1 year in advance. I feel that this is very reasonable but I have never done that before and am looking for a little advice on how I should go about my planning. I have planned for vacations 7 and 11 months out but have never planned for 5 weeks a year.

I want to work in DVC stays and have enough for a couple weeks a year. The downside is that at this stage in my life we can only go during peak times. Therefore my points do not go as far as I like.

They used to try to enforce this policy where I work too. We had to do this a few times but did not last long, great news for us. It is hard to choose. Choose your weeks and book your dvc stays for one or two of them. You should be able to get one or two with DVC out of the five.

Congrats on your five weeks. I had four weeks but we our company went bankrupt and someone else invested money. Because of this we just had to give two weeks vacation, 6.25% cut in pay and lost time and half for Sundays for 18 months - this did not affect me personally since I don't work Sundays but it really, really stinks. We look at the bright side, we all have our jobs.
