Okay, so our last several trips have been to HHI, which we have thoroughly enjoyed! But, we have decided it's time for a big WDW trip! :thumbsup2

After scribbling several scenarios out on paper (I know, this can all be done on the computer these days, but some habits are hard to break!), we have decided on 9 nights. My home resort is BCV, so I am planning to make all 9 nights of the ressie in a 2 BR there to make sure we have it. At 7 months, I would like to try to get AKV for the first 4 nts of stay as all of us would really like to try it out.

Here's where I'm a little stuck, but this is what I'm thinking:

Book first 4 nights at BCV 11 months out in one reservation & then book the next 5 nights at BCV 11 months out in the hopes of making a switch go smoother?? Not sure if it matters, & I know they would link them together, but the other reason I was thinking of doing it this way is b/c when I go to switch the first 4 nts to AKV, if I can get SV, the pts will be identical. If for some reason (& I don't know what availability is typically like) I can only get a standard view room at AKV, I will have points left over. We will be borrowing some points for the 5 nights, so I am wondering if I've broken it up into 2 reservations if I could bank the excess points I wouldn't need for AKV since the borrowed points are used for the "2nd" reservation?

Good grief, I don't know if this makes sense in writing, but it made perfect sense in my head! Now I remember why I become obsessed about planning DW vacations! :rolleyes1 TIA for any input!

I think that you have confused me a bit. But, if I understand, I don't think that it is necessary to split the BCV reservation at 11 months. At 7 months, MS will just modify your reservation. I believe that the only way they can't easily modify the reservation is if you wanted to change days in the middle.

They will just drop that days from your BCV resi when and if you make the AKV resi. No need to split the resi at BCV.

MS should use the borrowed points for either the BCV stay or the AKV standard, thus freeing up the points you want to bank. Keep an eye out for that to happen, of course, but that's what they did for me. A waitlist came through at BLT for about 230 points, and we had used around 260 (current and borrowed) VWL points for the original reservation. Sure enough, the VWL points that are left in '09 are available to bank.

I also would just book all of the original nights at BCV, don't bother to make two reservations.

Thanks for the quick responses! I figured I was making it more complicated than it needed to be. ;)

I am getting so excited I can hardly stand it...it's been what seems like a long time!! (It's actually only been since Spring, '08, that we were there, but from a planning perspective, it's been a couple of years!!) I will call MS first thing Monday to get the ball rolling! Thanks, again!:)
