I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm hoping someone will know the answer.
Are there any times of the year, other than aug. and Sept., that free dining is offered? If so, how do I find out about it?

I just returned from a trip with FD and was so focused on planning my trip that I didn't even think to check about other times of the year that FD was offered.

Also- is the week following new year's day usually very crowded? This year, we don't start back to school until Jan. 8 and thought the time between Jan. 1 and 7 might be a not-so-crowded time to visit. Any thoughts??

Since 2005, Disney has been offering the Free Dining promo for Magic Your way packages with a 3 night minimum and a 14 day maximum (Basic Dining Plan; 1 TS, 1 CS, 1 Snack per person per night) during the last part of August until the end of September, give or take a few days. The free dining offer is usually announced during the first week of April. The first couple of days it will only be open to Disney Visa holders and then will open up to the general public.

A few weeks ago Disney Destinations sent out some emails that offered free dining pin codes for select dates 9/28-10/11, 11/9-11/22, 12/14-12/20/08. These emails were random, not for the general public, and the codes were non-transferrable. Last week Disney Visa send out a free dining code for their card holders for the same select dates in October, November and December. These pin codes are not part of the Fall Dining promotion.

As far as I know, these are the only times that Disney has offered the free dining promo.

The first three days of January the crowds will be pretty high. The last part of that week the crowds will be more medium-ish.
