Planning a trip-is there a direct flight from NJ?

I am contemplating taking my little people to DL. We are WDW vets, having been DVC owners since 2002. I JUST started thinking about this, and I know that I have somereading to do on these boards...but I am wondering:

IS there a direct flight from NJ? (or Philly?)

To which airport?


Car rental?


How many days shall I devote?



I also want to do maybe sea world, lego land, maybe san diego zoo...


I have off in April from the 9th to 19th...(I just went back to work )
We had a trip planned for WDW in May but need to move due to school schedule...

Don't know about direct flights, but I'd think there would be some. You could check out flights into Long Beach (LGB), Los Angeles (LAX), and John Wayne/Santa Ana (SNA). Long Beach and John Wayne are the closest.

I'd give yourself at least 3 days in DL if not more. If you're wanting to do Universal, Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo, you should check into getting a Southern California City Pass which also includes 3 days at DL.

Car rental depends on the airport.

I too am planning my first DL trip for next August (we just got back from WDW). Planning this trip seems to be much more complex.

We will be flying from the Boston/Providence area & have lots of credits for SWA, so we will be using them. They do not fly directly into Long Beach, which is my first choice, but JetBlue does. We will have to fly into LAX, SNA seems to be more expensive, but their flight schedule is not available yet.

We will not be using a rental car while at Disneyland. We are planning on staying at HOJO so we will not need a car. We are thinking of taking the Amtrak train to San Diego and spending a few days there. We will be visiting SeaWorld and the Zoo. The City Pass seems to be a good value.


I am planning on 3 days at DL.





One day at SW and one at the Zoo. No interest in LegoLand. My son will be almost 12.

Long Beach is an easy airport to get in and out of, but John Wayne (SNA) is very easy as well. John Wayne is closer to Disneyland. John Wayne probably is more expensive than LAX, but remember that you will be much closer and not have to deal with nearly as much traffic (aka hassle) coming and going.

John Wayne would be my airport of choice if I were flying if for a Disneyland vacation.

You can check websites like orbitz.com and expedia.com for flights. Or different airlines websites.

Personally, we always fly to SNA because it's the quickest and easiest for us. And the price is about the same as it is for surrounding airports.

I'd do at least 3 days at DLR.

Thank you everyone! It is weird to not know how to plan for DL, we are so well versed in WDW! As far as time of year, is there an ideal time?

I just started a new job, so I have break APril 9-19, which is Easter on a WDW trip-plus the airfare is crazy to Orlando right now--we have SW credits but thinking we will use them in the summer...we don't want to use up our DVC points for the year...we had a vacation planned for May, but with the new job-I don't want to take the time...we were thinking of a late June trip for WDW...we have a cruise in October...

Be aware that there is a difference between a direct flight and a non stop flight.

Gotcha- I need whichever one will keep me on the plane until we go to Disneyland with two little boys!
