Planning a November 2015 trip; whats the best gameplan to keep things inexpensive?

I worked up the numbers and a Moderate room even with a free dining plan would be a minimum of $3000 where a value resort with free dining can be had for around $1600, almost half as much.

How many people in your room and how many nights? That's why it's up in the air as to which is a better deal. I just have seen many folks on here discuss the upgrade vs. room issue, and generally they come out happier buy staying in a mod and getting the TS plan.

Your situation may dictate something completely different!

Two people, seven nights.

These are the rough numbers I worked up a few weeks back:

Disney's All-Star Sports or All-Star Music Resort
5-Day Ticket w/Park Hopper Option
$1,600.78
Disney Dining Plan Upgrade Fee $261.10
$1,600.78 + $261.10
$1,861.88

Disney's Pop Century Resort
5-Day Ticket w/Park Hopper Option
$1678.10
Disney Dining Plan Upgrade Fee $261.10
$1,678.10 + $261.10
$1,939.20

Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Not Eligble for Free Dining Offer
5-Day Ticket w/Park Hopper Option
Disney Dining Plan
$2,666.64

Disney's Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach Resort
5-Day Ticket w/Park Hopper Option
Disney Dining Plan (FREE)
$3,097.52

My earlier post saying $1600 was off. It was $1800.

Depending on the number of people in your room, the amount to upgrade to a moderate hotel is less than upgrading your dining plan from QS to TS.

FYI - last year, the OP of that thread mentioned above was attacked because his information was not 100% correct and he has not posted since August. People on here can get testy!

Also, last year POR was excluded from Free Dining, we assume because too many people booked it in advance, hoping to switch to Free Dining. But Disney saw plenty of rooms booked and decided that they didn't need to include POR in the deal since they didn't need to fill up the resort. So beware!!!

I've attempted to contact Joe to see if he will return this year. Seems like he's content on being away from this craziness!!
