We are planning June 2012 to visit DL for the first time. When is the estimated time frame for Carsland to open?

I knew I could rely on the disboards for this info. :) My SIL and brother are planning a trip for next Spring (her exact words "Gotta wait fo the Cars ride to open first."). I'm not going to spoil her planning though...let them go and be disappointed that it's not open yet. :P I'm not a very nice sister like that (I'm the Disney Fanatic in our family, and have asked her several times to save for Christmas 2012 instead and go to WDW instead with my parents, DH, myself, and our DS...as that would make my mom's day to get to spend some time there with ALL Her grandkids together).

Anywho! I digress. :) Guess I'll keep checking back here to see if a more solid date gets released. :)

Agreed! Disney likes to have things up and running for high season. So chances are you will be able to see it, unless some unforseen set back occurs. But by the sounds of things, they are currently on track. That is going to be amazing. I just had my mom watch Pixar Cars for the first time last night, because she keeps seeing pictures of the construction but has no idea what anything is. She loved it, and it was nice for her this morning to see some of the pictures and go "HEY THATS COZY CONE", or " OK so that's what Radiator Racers is going to be". :thumbsup2 YAY MOM!!!!

I would say that opening for June or Summer 2012 is a bit arbitrary.

I live in a place that like DLR has a tourist based economy. So when something here is meant to be ready for the busy summer season it means Memorial day weekend. That is when summer starts to us.

Disney aims for a few targets. Holiday periods. Like Memerial day weekend. Christmas Break, Srping Break and Summer vacation.

So you can guess that Disney is probably planning for A. Memorial Day weekend or B. about the second weekend of June when all school are out for summer.

Unless there celebrity viewings, cast member viewings and soft openings a few weeks before hand :confused3. I wonder what the lead up to all park guests entry will be like. It's not like it's one ride. Its a whole land with several rides and im sure a bunch of added touches with no details given to us ahead of time. It makes me wonder what approach they are going to take on early viewings.

If I'm not mistaken... Disney was aiming for Spring Break opening with WOC. They just missed their target  and that is only a fountain show! The scope of Cars Land in comparison to a sprinkler show would worry me if I was making plans for 2012. If I had to book 2012 I'd shoot for Christmas time! :thumbsup2

FWIW, reports were that WOC was ready but that during testing CEO Iger asked the designers to change the show - which resulted in a delayed opening.

Carsland will have a lot more to "tweak". Ya think Iger & Staggs can stay out of the way and let it open on time?

From what I've heard Lasseter told Staggs and Kalogridis that he is running the show in carsland and they agreed to get out of his way.

I really hope it is open in June 2012 because that is when we are planning on going. I know that there is a strong possibility that it won't be open, and if it isn't we will just have to plan another trip!

Actually, it is highly likely CarsLand will be open in June 2012.

June is busy as it is, let alone a new section of the park opening. Noooo thank you, I'll wait to take my trip until October as usual lol. I'm not huge on busy days, I don't want to wait in lines for hours at a time or be shoved beside someone when walking in the park

I know Carsland will be busy all summer of 2012. But we might consider July. I don't want to be right into all the grand opening ceremonies.

We are doing Carsland Nov/Dec 2012. We are doing a group family trip. My nephew loves cars. We wanted to go when there would be "less" people.

So then I wonder where my SIL is getting or info (or why she's thinking) the ride will be ready in Spring (I KNOW they'll be going during Spring Break as my nephew will be in Kindergarten startging this fall; and I really don't think they'd take him out of school to go).

I'm pretty sure DH and I will plan for a Spring trip in 2013...give some of the craziness time to settle and the bugs/kinks worked out (cause come on, we all know the ride/s will be up and down in the beginning). :) I can't wait.

Thanks for asking, I was about to post the same question when I found this thread.
How far in advance are they likely to announce official opening?

We've had it planned for a while to do a cross-country trip beginning of June 2012, we would fly out to CA and drive back, starting off with 3 days in DL, was trying to beat the crowds by going early June. Now not sure what we'll do. Makes no sense to go right before it opens and miss it, as we have no clue when we'll be back. Don't want to be in the middle of grand opening week... guess we could push it back to as far into the end of August as possible instead, just not sure what that will do for weather for the rest of our route.

Wonder if it being the opening season if going June or August will even make much of a different crowd wise? We would make sure we hit it on weekdays.

Now thinking of maybe going 2013 instead, but that will mess up my Disney cruise plans.

Wish we could go during the school year, but this is just too long of a trip to pull off. Summer is the only option. Guess it'll be a wait and see approach. :confused3

Sorry, but why is late June, July, or early August not an option for you? I know you want to drive cross country. Are you choosing early June at Disney solely for avoiding crowds? If so, I would say for a "once in a lifetime trip" that is probably not the best idea. :teacher:

In answer to your question, I bet we will not find out about a firm Carsland date until March/April 2012.
