Why do I wish I was planning a DVC trip instead? Hubby has to go to Vegas on business and we've never been there before...but I still just can't get THAT excited about it. I'm sure it will be fun, and it will be warmer than MN, and it will be exciting mostly because our son is joining us there on his way HOME from 2-1/2 years in Anchorage...but I think I still want to go back to my DVC home. Oh, well, there's always next year...need to make January reservations at Vero anyway for 2009, I know I'll regret it if I don't...but better wait till after the taxes are done! Please tell me how much I'll like Vegas! :)

I actually lived there for a few years. 1998-2000. I loved the desert, the mountains...all the sun. All the casinos on the strip try to outdo each other with theirm themeing...so just walking into the casinos and checking them all out can be fun....just think of it as a new experience and enjoy. disney will patiently await your return :)

We LOVE Vegas. They have way better food then WDW or DL. It is pricey though. The show's are great. If you can only see one vegas show, make it "O" at Bellagio. Abssolutly amazing. I take that back, Vegas for the most part has better food. Shula's has the best steak we have ever had.

It's been called the Disneyland for Adults! :thumbsup2 You will have fun, but it's not Disney! Where are you staying? And, by the way, my family is from Fergus Falls and Pelican Rapids!

You'll have a great time in LV for sure. And an even better time, imho, if you don't gamble!

There are fantastic restaurants, unique hotels, and shows that you can't see anywhere else. If you like The Beatles don't miss the LOVE show by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage. I lived there from 1997-2003 and it is an exciting place to be. Feel free to ask any Vegas questions that you might have.

When DH suggested it for June, I wasn't too thrilled either (what - miss WDW:mad: ?)

Worked @ it & managed to sneak in Grand Canyon & DL (thanks to cheapo SW fares from Vegas:banana: ); best of both world's:thumbsup2

Most Vegas resorts have much better service than WDW resorts, much better restaurants than WDW, and much more and better adult entertainment than WDW. You'll have a great time. We go about every 6 months (On weekends, it seems half of L.A. is there) and never get tired of it.

Well, we had free airfare- DH won it through work so we decided to go there and it happened to be our 10th anniversary. We liked it and are glad we went. We would, however, only go back if we had a group - much more fun with more than 2 - IMO. We don't gamble or drink but we had a good time, even though it really didn't fall much below 100 :scared1: the whole time. See a show or two, walk through the casinos and see the theming of each one and do some shopping!! It's a must see once in your life.

We love Vegas and lived there while I worked at the MGM. I agree.."O" is not to be missed..hands down best show in Vegas. Also, don't miss going downtown to see Fremont street and the overhead light show. If the Star Trek Experience is still at the Hilton, go! It's great..I'm not even a Star trek fan and it was still fun. Also be sure to eat where the ride dumps you out to get the whole experience.
It's really a great place. There are times I miss it..
(however, no longer having a 45 minute commute each way daily makes it easier to not miss it so much)
There is so much to do..just enjoy and take it all in! (oh yea..be sure and catch the water show at Bellagio..free..every 15 minutes I think..stunning at night.)

I second the suggestions for "O" and "Love", as well as the Star Trek Experience. STE is a lot of fun, BUT it's pretty expensive and usually a long wait. Still, it's very unique and allows you to do something they do on the TV show that you've always wanted to do (I'm not telling what)!

We are in the process of planning a quick trip to LV for this June. DW's company is having a presentation there, so we're adding on a few days. Even though we've been there before, we found that picking up The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas has helped spark some ideas about what to do. But if you're a first timer, you'll definitely want to spend some time checking out the mega resorts on the Strip. Be sure to wear your WDW walking shoes, though. Maps are very deceiving when it comes to the Strip, and just going from one to its next door neighbor is often quite a trek.

Have a great trip!

I'll second that! It make look "right next door" but it seems like you walk a mile between resorts.

I completely agree with the OP. DH has a convention in Vegas every spring. We stay at nice hotels that have great food, shops, gambling etc. We go a couple days early and stay a few days after so we are there a week with no kids and the time away is great. We've gone to good (and not so good shows), been to the Grand Canyon via helicopter, enjoyed the shopping and walking up and down the strip. However, I would much rather go to WDW with or without the kids for an additional week instead. We leave to go to Vegas in less than one month, and to be honest, I'm much more excited about our four night trip to WDW in May...Just my opinion....
