We used to plan out every detail of our trips....still do to a point! :lmao:
But since we have DVC we do more commando and don't stress out over not getting to do a certain thing....cause we know we will be back.

So how about you? :rolleyes1

:surfweb:

I think of Commando as go, go, go. Hit every ride in everypark. Be at every rope drop, don't miss a thing, have a touring plan at every park. We use to tour like this. I am a planner still, but much more relaxed since buying DVC. We know were coming back so if we want to spend more time in the pool, we do. We want to hang at the community hall, we do. I plan 5 sit down meals, during a 7 day trip. The rest will be in the room, or quick service. I plan what parks we will do each day, but beyond those two things we go with the flow.

I guess that depends on your definition of "commando"...

I've always felt that going "commando" meant that we were at the park at rope drop and went all out, all day long... First in, last out type of thing...

Since we became DVC members, I think we plan a basic framework for each day (to take advantage of EMH or align with our dining reservations), but we don't push ourselves to the point of exhaustion any more. If it's a really hot day, we'll bail on the park for a while and go back to the villa and hit the pool then return to the park in the evening. Pre-DVC I think we used the hotel pools two, maybe three times and only left the parks for dining reservations.

DVC has allowed us to stop going "commando" and relax more. Take some time away from the hustle and bustle of the parks and enjoy other areas of the resort that we never took advantage of on prior trips to the World...

At this point, I make very few plans or dining reservations. We just go with the flow.:goodvibes

Like previous post, I think commando is non-stop RD to fireworks. But, like you, one of the things I best like about is DVC is relaxing vacations. When we first went to WDW, we did the commando thing every day. Now, when we go there, we may only do 2 or 3 days in the theme parks, and plan days at the resorts, where we will enjoy the fun poolside, restaurant, etc.

I agree with the above posts that to go commando means to go all out and not miss a beat. Generally those who go commando are planners to get the most out of every minute.

We are neither! We don't even know from day to day if we plan to visit a park or not. We NEVER make ADRs because we don't know where we'll be or if we'll be hungry at the right time. When we want to eat at a TS restaurant, we try to catch off hours or as soon as they open. We have only been turned away once in more than a dozen attempts.

There is nothing enjoyable about going commando for us! If we do decide to head to a park, we do get there at rope drop, hit a few things and are out of the park as the masses enter.

I've got a loose touring schedule planned and ADRs made for our coming trip - it's our first trip "Home" so I'm thinking our trip following this one will be a bit more relaxed.
I don't think my brain has quite caught on that we'll be back after this trip...lol

I also think of a "commando" type as a hyper-planner and doing the parks all day long. I do plan our park days and we are there for rope drop most mornings and have a tentative plan for first rides, however we go during very busy times like Christmas and T-day week where if you do not beat the crowd you are stuck in 2 hour lines. However besides that I make one or two ADR's and the rest are as we go cs meals. Also once our morning is done, I don't have anything planned and we go where we feel like that could be hanging out at the resort all day or touring resorts or Disney Quest etc... So I'd say I'm a planner but also very relaxed as we know we will be back!

We (I) still plan what days we will be at what parks and our ADRs for every night, but we generally don't have a plan for which attractions we see and do. Although, we've always toured that way, before or after DVC. With DVC, we know we are going back, but going back was always a given even when we didn't own DVC.

+1

We leave two weeks from today and have only one ADR. Our last night we have reservations at Yachtmans Steakhouse. We like to have a nice dinner on our last night.

We don't have plans for what park on what days, just whatever we feel like we do.

I think as time goes on we seem to plan a little less and a little less. We have a long to do list of things we've never gotten around to doing at WDW. We are trying to hit some of those each trip now instead.

We go with the flow, but we do check out our options each day before heading out. We also make a few ADR's.

We plan, but limit plans to days in parks and dinning.
Are trips are usually long, as result we purchase tickets for all days. Primarily because of the relatively low cost of adding days once you have 6 or 7 days planned.

We are the same. My "plan" consists of picking which park each day (I avoid emh) and making a few adr. I have three adr made for our week long trip in July and I just made them yesterday. No 180 day out planning for me, but I also don't like waiting until we get there like some do. A few trips ago we had a family member get sick and had to rearrange things while we were there and found that over July 4th week the old saying of "Beggars can't be choosers" really held true.

Great responses! :woohoo: Maybe I should have said commando or go with the flow! :lmao: We are definitely go with the flow folks now. When we take people we make a few more ADR's than we do when it is just us....but other than that it is just living in the moment....and what better moments than any one at WDW?!? :dance3:

Keep 'em coming!!

We make our dinner reservations of course, but beyond that it's really deciding what to do the night before--or even that same morning.
After 53 prior trips to WDW, we've seen and done most everything more than once, so no rush to go anywhere.

I plan which park we are going to each day according to TGM and make our reservations at 180 days for the things we have to do, like breakfast at the CP on the first day at MK and then we do the things we love to do. It's much more relaxed these days after having spent so much time there. We don't feel the need to do everything but just the things that make us happy.

I plan our ADRs and that's about it.
If we decide not to use it I'll hop on the puter and cancel it. We're so much more laid back now that we have a DD... :lmao:
Before I would drive DH crazy with staying in the parks all day/night.

We used to go commando but DVC has stopped that. We still make some ADRs and yes, I do make the ones we consider important at 180 days, but we don't plan our days as much and if we want to do something, we do it. We spend more time at our resort and in the pool.
