Anyone belong to Planet Fitness? They are opening one near me and I am very interested in joining. I would love to hear other people's experiences!
Thanks!

I used to belong to one for about a year. I really liked it. The only downside is that they don't have classes (aerobic, zumba), so if you are looking for something like that...look elsewhere. Other than that, it's really a great place and the price can't be beat.

FWIW, the only reason I quit was because we moved out of the area and there wasn't one in the area that we moved to.

Love love loved them!!! It was too far away for me to stay, but I hated leaving! Can't beat their price and their hours. Go for it!:thumbsup2

I am a current member. Can't beat the price. I also like their philosophy that anyone at any age, in any size or shape is welcome in the "judge free zone."

I belong. Great price. You just cant expect the extras you get at some other gyms. Mine does get very crowded at the peak times of the year- After New Years, and the beginning of summer. I think they sell a lot of memberships to compensate for the low price. But since there isnt a yearly contract, you dont have much to lose by trying it out.

My husband and I both joined PF last year and live it! It's very relaxed, only $10 a month, clean, and they have great equipment! We
love it. It's great for the money and there are ALL body types there. It really is judgement free:)

I am so happy to hear the positive experiences!!! I really am excited about it, the best part is we are all joining (me, DH and 2 DD's)!!

Make sure that you look into their "Black card"- it allows you to always bring a guest for free so it might save you money if you are looking at multiple memberships.

I'm a member and really like it. It is cheap and offers what I need. They also have extended hours.

However, they do not have child care or classes at most locations so if that is something you need then Planet Fitness wouldn't be the place for you.

Thanks everyone. No, I don't need childcare or classes. We will be joining this week!!

I belong and think it's gerat for $10 per month. There is no pool or classes, but that doesn't bother me. They have alot of equipment and the place is very clean.

I think it's a good choice, especially if you are starting out.

I do have to laugh every time I hear Planet Fitness though. I used to train strongwoman and most of my fitness friends are body builders or strongman. Planet Fitness has a "no grunting" policy and that is blasphemy to us! We tend to train in people's garages or warehouses where there is much grunting and beating of the chests. Our type are not welcome at Planet Fitness.

I've been a member for about two years and am VERY happy. Can't touch the $10 a month, but there is also a $29 annual membership fee each September, at least at mine. Still a great deal. There is a trainer available who offers "classes" to up to 4 people at a time to help you know how to work the machines and what weight levels to use. There are no typical gym classes, no pool, and no childcare. None of which bothers me, but good to know what you're getting.

I was a member there for a while but the one thing I didn't care for was that they let kids 14 and up join....after school and in the evenings was just a mass of teenagers there!
