Plane Tickets on E-Bay

Recently I read something about the plane tickets that are being sold on e-bay. I just can’t remember where I read it. The tickets are round-trip to anywhere United flies. A lady I work with is thinking about trying to by them. Should she? Has anyone here bought them or had a first hand experience with them?

It says that the hotel must be booked as part of the package. To me it doesn't sound like a good deal. The hotel part sounds strange. But I told her I would ask around to see what anyone else knows about them.

By the way, the seller is VERY new. I don't think she should even think about bidding on them.

After reading the subject and the first paragraph, my first thought was that airline tickets are non-transferable. As far as I can remember, it's been that way even before 9/11.

Then I read the hotel part. Maybe it's a travel agency selling package deals on eBay? Or since it's "anywhere United flies" maybe United Airlines is selling package deals on eBay? Either way, I'd do some serious checking and making sure everything is on the level.

Tell your friend to pass on those tix.

Usually what happens with those tix is that you have to use only certain hotels at the regular rack rate. She will wind up spending much more for the hotel than she would if she booked the airfare and the hotel online herself.
