Sorry if I posted in wrong forum, was not sure were to place this.

My DD14, has been invited to spend part of the summer with some relatives that live outside of Chicago, IL. We were looking into letting her fly to Chicago and letting them pick her up there. The have offered to meet us half way(around Indy) and pick her up but it would be cheaper on all parties, with gas prices like they are, to fly her there. My DW found a decently priced round trip ticket from Louisville to Chicago with America Airlines. However, after talking with American Airlines this afternoon they informed us that there was a $100 unaccompanied minor fee for both parts of the trip. Which makes a $140 ticket almost $400 dollars. She's 14 not 4. I can see having to have a sitter for a younger child but a 14 year old come on.

My questions are:
Has anyone here ever let one of the children fly unaccompanied?
Which airline did you use?
If so how much extra did the airline charge?

Thanks

Nevermind. I found her a ticket on Southwest Airlines for just about the same price with no unaccompanied child fees. :cool1:
