We brought the MP3 player, Game Boy, and Nintendo DS for the plane. I let my DS decide what he wanted to bring with him to the parks. The Game Boy and Nintendo really came in handy while waiting in lines!!
Dh and I played scrabble (got a special travel scrabble game at target) Dd4 had a coloring book and FIL brought a portable DVD player. Waiting in line wasn't too bad, but we kept a few little toys in the bag we took to the parks in case Dd got bored.
Plane ride - we take the red eye and everyone sleeps!
Long lines - look for another ride that doesn't have a long line. I absolutely refuse to get in line for anything that takes more than 15 minutes. I just walk around until I find something with a short line! I have been pleasantly surprised by the shows & rides I would never have gone on, except for a short wait existing!
We also look for hidden Mickey's while in line. Also, if we get bored we just introduce ourselves to people around us and ask "where are you folks from". It's a great conversation starter, most people are very friendly and we have learned a lot about different parts of the world.
We only have a 2 hour flight, so I fire up the MP-3 (downloaded with over 400 Bon Jovi songs, of course) and always have a hot romance novel.
Waiting in lines....if at the airport, I love people studying...check out clothes, shoes, stuff they are carrying (yeah, I don't get out much).
At the parks, if the line is longer than 10 minutes, I fast pass and find something without a line! I'm too old to do lines anymore!!!
