Have already had a moan here about the new short connection times at Newark for our hols in Oct., but while gazing happily at my tickets last night I realised that the flights- international then local -now had the same flight number. It's the same on the way home.
I checked the continental site, and sure enough my flights are now shown as Edinburgh to mco with one stop instead of two seperate flights.
Does that mean it's the same plane just re-fueling at Newark? Can I stop worrying about missing the connection? - would rather sound stupid here than on the phone to continental!!

one would think the same number means the same plane, but i'm not sure about that...
on the other hand, if you're ticketed that way, it certainly means the airline is taking responsibility for you to 'make' the connection should there be one...

I'd ring them to ask. Don't worry about sounding stupid - you won't - it's a very reasonable question to ask.

The only really stupid questions are the ones that you don't ask - and then later wish that you had!

and while you're asking, ask them whether you'll have to get off the plane and clear immigration and customs in newark and then get back on, or whether customs/immigration will be at MCO.......not that it matters, but it would be nice to know in advance...

Thanks for the replies Beth and Julie. I'll phone continental tomorrow.
Maybe I'll just get to sit there, feet up, glass of wine in hand  -- in my dreams! LOL

Hi

I've travelled with Continental from Glasgow via Newark for the past few years and have had the same flight no several times but you have to get off the plane and then get onto another plane - a couple of times it's been the same aircraft other times its been a bigger or smaller plane. When you arrive in Newark you must clear immigration there before you are allowed onto the connecting flight. last year we had a 1 hour stopover and just made it and no more - having said that there were a few straglers and the plane waited for them as this was the scheduled connecting flight. I personally would like a shorter stopover rather than having to wait for several hours in an airport. I hope this helps.

Thanks Helen, that's good to know. I'm also happy with the shorter connection providing all goes to plan!! If we're delayed I'll maybe see you at customs in Newark- I may not be my usual relaxed cool self!! LOL
down to the 100 day marker :bounce:
