Any one out there know anything about CVG ? I have a flight from TPA to MHT with a
stop in CVG.. We will only have a half hour to chg planes ? is this possible? it will be
myself w/ a carryon and 2 kids ( Ds 5 DD 8 ) ? Thanks for any help ... Michelle

It is possible. I find the CVG airport to be easy to navigate in.

I was feeling a bit worried that it might be a huge airport with runways spaced a
mile apart and that we wouldn't make it from gate to gate.. I feel much better..
Thanks again

There is a map of that airport on line.
Do a search for it with your browser's search button.
We have flown Delta into that airport and most of the time it is about 2 gates away from one to the other. There might be an issue if you were changing airlines, but, if it is the same airline is a cakewalk.

This was a concern of mine in June when we just had 1/2 hr. between plane changes (my real concern was our checked luggage would it make the switch in such a short amount of time)

We had no problems! CVG is a nice airport and we even had time for a bathroom break . :sunny:

Hello I am from Cincinnati and have been traveling out of the airport for 16 years nearly every week on business. If it is a same airline change you will have no problem. Delta is the big airline on campus and between them and Comair the total other airline flights are in the single percentage points. Being a Delta hub making changes is what they do. Just be careful there is a Disney store in terminal "B" near gate B12 don't get sidetracked.

Just to be sure, you are not traveling the day before Thanksgiving are you?
You will be fine CVG is kind of a relaxed rush type airport.

Have fun

A few months ago I found a site called the Airport Survival Guide. It gives you a little bit of general information on many airports in the U.S. It also has links to the airports offical website. The address is home.digitalcity.com/airports. You might find it useful in the future.

I 'm also from Cinti. There are only 3 terminal at CVG. I think terminal B is all Delta and terminal C is Comair. If you are not changing airlines there shouldn't be a problem.

RussH, I was going to mention the Disney Store! I stood near the entrance waiting for DH but didn't go in because I didn't want us to miss our flight.

Amazing self-restraint :sunny: We were heading to Disneyland so I thought I could make up for my missed shopping opportunity there!

:) :D :) :D

Thank you all for the responses, RussH it its Delta we are flying, glad to hear it should be not a problem ! Hopefully there are no delays as it will be December ! but its a Saturday so if something should come up it shouldn't be a huge deal.. I am off to check out the airport survival - thanks uncle mickey.. Thanks again to all.. MIchelle

Just checked the Delta info and looks like we are coming in at gate B-24 and have to get back on at gate B-28
That shouldn't be bad 4 gates down.. with any luck..LOL
Thanks again to all who replied

I agree that if you're staying on Delta you are probably fine.

We had a problem last weekend when we had to switch from Delta to Comair which is a Delta connection airline.

We were delayed in Orlando because of lightning and then once we backed away from the gate we were delayed again because of bad weather in Cincinnati. When we arrived at CVG we had about 15 minutes to make our connecting flight on Comair.

The Delta rep upset us because we got off our plane and immediately asked the rep at the exit if we would be able to make our flight on Comair. He told us yes we would make it but we would have to hurry. Let me tell you, there is no way you can get from a Delta flight to board a Comair flight in 15 minutes. My little 5 year old was running as fast as she could but we just couldn't make it. The problem is that to get to Concourse C you have to go downstairs and get on a shuttle. This shuttle then brings you to the other concourse via a bus that goes among the planes between the gates.

We ended up missing our flight because of this shuttle and then ended up staying in Cincinnati that night because there were no other flights to MSP on a Saturday night. Delta treated us well with a shuttle to the hotel, one night stay, a travel kit, and meal vouchers but we still would have liked to have made it home that night. I realize that it wasn't Delta's fault that the weather was bad, but it made us mad that the rep at the gate saw we had 2 kids and told us to start running because we could get to gate C in time for our flight when because of the shuttle there is no way to make it.

dtauer,

I had a similar experience with a gate agent in Cincinnati. Our flight was late from Cleveland and we were connecting to an international flight to London. All she could tell us was "hurry". I threw my carryone bag to my husband and ran like crazy to hold the plane. We made it - but that was ridiculus!

Do you think she could use her radio? This happened several years ago and I'm sure you can tell - I'm still miffed.

I haven't flown Delta since then. Although with the excellent fares recently, that may change. I hope my DH has forgotten the London "dash".:D

Delta has been known to require you to switch terminals to make a connection in CVG; sometimes they re-assign the gates at the last minute. Getting across the airport on the shuttle is not really lightning quick, but the Delta agents are usually pretty helpful in directing you to the right place to catch it.
