Getting wet is part of the experience of the rides. The only one you gotta watch out for is Popeye. And it's your shoes that matter here. Shirts and shorts will eventually dry, but if your shoes and socks get wet, it's over, you'll have water logged feet the rest of the day.
Now, what they do is tell everyone in the Popeye queue, that you must wear shoes. But as you get in the raft, if you fasten your seat belt, you can put your shoes in the middle container, and the ride ops might look the other way.
What I do, is take off my socks in the line to Popeye, and put them in my pocket, put my shoes back on. I get into the raft, fasten my seat belt, then put my shoes and socks in the middle. If the ride op says put shoes back on, no problem. I put the shoes on, leaving the socks in the middle container, then I hold up my feet thru the entire ride. If they look the other way, then I'm barefoot with everything in the middle container.
I don't care if I get soaked. The shirt and shorts will dry off after you walk around for a few minutes. It's the socks you gotta keep dry.
I really don't understand why people think a Poncho will help on Popeye. It's misleading what everyone is talking about. In case you didn't know, the entire raft fills with water. We're talking 2 feet of water that comes rushing into the raft. If you don't pick your feet up, your shoes and socks will be completely soaked. Having a dry shirt doesn't do you much good when your shoes are water logged.
Ever sat in a bath tub or pool too long? Same thing if your shoes get soaked. The skin on your feet will be water logged after walking around the park in wet shoes.
I think they need signs up to tell people about water logged shoes. I can understand wanting people to wear shoes into the ride, and the saftey behind it. But if your shoes and socks get wet, it will ruin your day if you can't change them.
Now, if you're going in the morning, and plan on getting soaked, and have a change of cloths and shoes in your hotel room, then fine, go for it.
But if you're going in the morning, staying all day, and get your shoes wet, forget it, bad experience.
