We (me, DH, DD11) decided only 6 weeks out to "Do Disney" the week after Easter (Mar 28 - Apr 1). I've been during this period before so I have an idea about the crowds. At first, I didn't even try for a Disney resort - just booked at Wyndham Palace. I planned my itinerary to make sure we were NOT visiting the parks that had EMH that day thinking they will be somewhat less crowded.
BUT I suddenly got an itch that I just HAD to stay at a resort. (I've been about a dozen times and never stayed at a resort) It has been very difficult to find any availability at any resort for this period; however just this morning I was able to get two nights at POR. I'm psyched and will keep trying to add two more nights. Now that I have two nights with the bennies and two nights without I have a dilemna. Do I go with my original plan of avoiding the parks with EMH because they may be more crowded or do I try to take advantage of the EMH for the two nights I'm scheduled at the resort? It seems to me that if there is no availablity in any Disney resort for the period I am there then the parks will be very crowded with resort guests on the EMH nights.
Does EMH really make a difference?

EMH makes a huge difference. If you plan on taking advantage of EMH, you will get so much more done. If you don't take advantage of EMH avoid that park.

The one park that was not worth the EMH on our trip was AK - way too crowded, even at opening. I have not done evening EMH, so I don't know if that would be better.

We are going over Easter too and wondered the same thing. We've heard that it is better to AVOID the EMH parks and go elsewhere those days. We're not sure, but we're going to take the gamble and stay away. We are going to try out the late hours though.

Are we crazy?

I see they extended the park hours during "our" week (March 28 - Apr 1). I thought I read somewhere on these boards that they had added EMH days as well but I haven't been able to verify yet. The extended hours seem like they would make the EMH almost obsolete in the evening - but maybe i'm not getting it and someone out there can set me straight.

I think we will also stick with our plan and avoid the EMH parks.

As I understand it, MK will have EMH every day from March 20-31. The disney site has MK listed as having EMH late hours on top of the extended hours for everyone.
We're still avoiding the EMH hours and doing other parks those days. We'll see how it goes...

Oops! I wasn't clear in my first reply. MK will have EARLY EMH hours every day from March 20-31. The late EMH hours for MK will only be one night (I think it's Wednesday the 30th).
