Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Rope dropped Space Mountain and headed to Pirates but it was down. I got a replacement LL but couldn’t pick another

You should have been able to pick another tier 2 pass. You could not pick any tier 1s yet because you had not used your first LL of the day to open up additional tier 1s and/or park hopping.

I thought that if I used it quickly that I would be able to pick another so I wasted it on It’s a Small World but still couldn’t pick another after tapping in

You used your Multi Experience Pass (MEP) at Small World, not a lightning lane. Using MEPs does not open addition tier1s and or hopping, only using a LLMP does that.

MEPs are essentially outside the LL system: when you receive one, it's like that first LL was never booked, so you can book another in the same tier and park. You can even book the same ride that just MEPed. And, using one doesn't open up tiers or hopping, only using a LLMP does that.

Right, so simple 🫩.

I've been curious about the MEPs. So if you happen to get one for something breaking down at park 1, you can only use the MEP in that park - not at another park later? It makes sense if that's the case. On the other hand, depending on the timing of when you 'earn' the MEP, it might be too late in the day to use it at that park if we're hopping on to another park for the afternoon/evening. It's good information to know, though. So many little idiosyncracies with LL!

We have breakfast at Ohana scheduled for 8:50 is it reasonable to select our first LLMP for that day at 11am?

Right, so simple 🫩.
No, definitely not simple. But it is the logic of the system as written and knowing how it works allows someone to react accordingly next time.

In your case, if you had booked and used a Small World LLMP right away instead of using your MEP, you would have opened everything up without the extended wait or trip to the blue umbrella.

I responded with more detail so that anyone reading would understand why it happened to you that way and how they can address it if it happens to them

Typical MEP are good only in the park where they were earned and only for rides at or below in level of demand (so a Space Mountain LLMP can be used on a tier 2, but a tier 2 can't be used at Space Mountain).

If a ride goes down in the last hour of park operation, it's valid that day and the next, and I believe at all parks, generally at rides of the same level of demand. I got one for last hour Space Mountain that I used the next day at MK, but I'm pretty sure the list of rides you could use it on covered all 4 parks. Wish I had a screenshot...

Surely been asked before but can't wade through all 277 pages so far. Can start prebooking LLMP's next week. Visiting the parks 8 days. Not buying LLMP for MK day 1 (we arrive late afternoon) or AK. For those who have prebooked frequently...
  1. MK
  2. EP
  3. HS
  4. AK
  5. MK
  6. EP
  7. HS
  8. MK
1) Is it better to work your way from the last park day forward?
2) Is it better to modify your times right away before paying or wait until you pay and modify later?

Thanks in advance.

I will start with HS and then to MK.

I think so- it would be good from 11-12 so even if you were a little late for the 11, you'd definitely make it by noon. We ate there a couple weeks ago and were finished in about 1 hour, and that was with some delays in refills and character visits!

It is best to focus on your key parks and attractions. I would not bother with LLMP and AK or Epcot to be honest. So start your last day at MK and skip to each MK or HS day to get the top attractions like Tiana (MK), and Slinky Dog (HS) since these (2) attractions are quite popular with a large audiences and of often run out of good return times in the morning 5+ days in advance.

So now I’m a bit confused. I have been using the app to guide me through when to start booking my multipass and lighting lanes such as trin. I thought it was 7 days before our vacation if staying in property. But I just looked to fake book and it looks like Aug 1st is available tomorrow. That is our arrival date..
so when can I book for my full 7 days?
Hopefully this post makes sense ;)

It always shows a 21 day rolling calendar. You can book for 14 days and 7 days in advance so 21 days always show. Does this help?

If your first day on-site is Aug. 1st, you can book July 25th for up to 14 days starting on August 1st.

Dave

The only caveat is that test track opens to the public the day we get to Disney World. I’d really like to ride a new version so maybe my order will be Hollywood Studios, Epcot, then magic Kingdom.
I travel with a 6-year-old, so her rides take priority. This will be her first time on Guardians so I will book that twice. SDD is first and it goes from there

Thank him so much!!!! So July 25th at 7am!! Thank you! I was just so confused:)

I've had this happen as well, for FEA at Epcot. The app shows you the rides and dates the MEP is available for, so you don't have to guess. I don't have a screenshot either, or I'd post it!

Tom, when my kids were 6, Test Track was a big favorite, so I would try to squeeze that in too if you're going to be buying LLMP for Epcot.

I am expecting it to be the hardest to get once it becomes available (comparable to Slinky Dog, at least for a month or two?) so if @DisneyFive wants to ride it on Day 2, it's probably what I would book first, but I doubt it will be difficult to get if they don't need to do it until Day 6.

I actually came here to see reports of how crazy it's been to book TT 7 Days out, 7+1, 7+2-- does anybody have experience?

My plan right now is to book in this order:
HS, our Day 7 Trying for Slinky Tier 1
EP, our Day 6 Trying for TT Tier 1
HS, our Day 3 Trying for Slinky Tier 1
EP, our Day 2 Trying for TT Tier 1
MK, our Day 8 Trying for Tiana Tier 1
MK, our Day 5 Trying for Tiana Tier 1

Tiana has a lot of drops same day so I'm not too worried about that even if I don't get it. I can watch the clock and looks for those regular Tiana drops if I don't happen to get it when I prebook
