Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Just to clarify.....for split stays. Our first resort day is Jan 15 but we check out of resort Jan 20 to move to second resort, both are on-site. Can I book my preselects for all 10 days on Jan 8? Is it tied to the ticket or tied to the resort ressie requiring me to split up my preselects at Jan 8 and 13th?

It is being reported that yes, you can book for your entire time over the length of split stays as well.

…when we got to Epcot almost at 4, spaceship earth was literally walk on. I don’t what their numbers of passes are, but it seems to be very limited. No one was using the LL side and yet no passes available at all?

I saw a few others said already but magic kingdom availability is terrible. Nothing available at all in the evenings. Dumbo was the only thing available to select for me. Crazy! Even modifying my preselects seem to be very limited.
That’s just gonna make the people who paid for MPLL mad seeing empty LLs after fighting bad day of availability. (And they get no quarter from me for it being debut week- Disney chose to go live with all of it, Disney chose to charge the seasonal full price to everyone there right now, it should be operating at full capacity.) The LLs shouldn’t be full but they should absolutely not be empty.

I hope you send Disney feedback on your experience.

Well since the biggest complaint with G+ was waking up at 7 am to book LL, by far EE/RD still has the biggest advantage even with the new LLMP system. You’re able to get in 4-5 rides within the first 2 hours of each park opening without any LL and extremely low waits.

Strategy: We were able to do at the following at EE/RD without LL each morning within 2 hours of opening in order.

MK: Pooh, IASW, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, & Ariel.
EP: Frozen, 3Cs, Mission Space, Spaceship Earth.
DHS: ToT, RNRRC, MMRT, TSM
AK: Navi, Dinosaur, FJEE x2, Safari, Kali.

Hope this helps anyone out.

Has anyone actually been able to view tip boards for future days? I'm not eligible to purchase yet so I can select date and park but it doesn't let you past that without eligible guests. Any reports from people booking 7 days in advance of their trip? Mine starts on the 10th and I'm really interested to know what availability looks like!

This is info I'd like. I think at the very least, after midnight on my booking day, we'll be able to see availability and can adjust plans if needed before 7am. I'd hate to log on at 7am to find I can't get LLSP for GOG on the first day of my trip. I'd have to shuffle my plans if so.

THIS. This to me is the one real, big, important question about the new system - Will it have as many LL spots per ride as under Genie+?

If so (and why wouldn't it, especially considering fewer people using LL for DAS), then availability across the board should stay about the same. Just because people can book earlier, doesn't mean MORE people are booking. So, if most rides had Genie+ spots available throughout the day, and didn't sell out, that should stay the same under LLMP.

The reports of lower-tier rides selling out, and others like HM booking up right away, suggest otherwise. I too hope this more of a result of first day anomalies; if not, it does mean they've clawed back LL slots.

Speaking of which - for the folk that are there - how do the actual L Lanes look? Are they moving faster? Are there noticeably fewer people in them?
I liked your post, and I just wanted to add that I had pretty much exactly the same thoughts and questions, which otherwise haven't really been addressed in this 120-page thread.

Looking at MK in particular, how were LLs so limited yesterday afternoon, while posted wait times were also relatively high (suggesting Disney was NOT holding back LLMP availability)? Were there users a week ago who paid over $20 for Genie+ at MK and barely booked any rides? I find that hard to imagine. Why would the change to LLMP result in more users, or why would Disney reduce ride capacity on the day of a new system rollout?

What is it about LLMP that created less availability? It can't be all the bloggers on day 1, can it? I would think the number of {bloggers looking for day 1 content} is less than {the number of people who would have bought Genie+ but avoided LLMP because it was brand new}. But is that wrong? What is the missing factor?

The answer I am hoping is that Disney DID reduce LL capacity while not reducing ride capacity. This would result in shorter actual standby waits, but Disney could still choose to post high wait times when the actual wait times were much lower. Can anyone who was at MK provide their experience?

I hope this strategy holds. I have concerns about the new strategy effect on the lines at tier 2 rides especially.

Maybe Disney has lowered the availability of LLs because they plan on raising the cost to purchase them? G+ doubled in price over its life. If LLs are $60 by xmas week then there would probably be enough inventory in the system for the reduced number of purchasers.

For those who have to make park reservations, are the pre-bookings limited to that park?

Just based off yesterday and today( yes I know not a lot of data) but Haunted Mansion looks like it might be the new hard to get Lighting Lane. Not really a surprise as you could argue it is the best ride in the tier 2 list and twice as many people can pick it as part of their first 3 as compared to the tier 1 picks.

Curious when your trip was? This is a great strategy if there are low crowds, but we've found the rope drop advantage does not hold up during busy times like spring break, christmas, etc.
