I ordered something and when it came there was a whole roll of nice quality brown paper in the box...yards and yards of it. I'd love to use it as wrapping paper for gifts...does anyone have any ideas how to "jazz" it up? If I could do that somehow...I don't think I'd have to buy wrapping paper for the next 20 years!!:thumbsup2
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! barb

One year I bought a roll of brown paper and my kids sponge-painted the paper. They used holiday shaped sponges and had a blast painting!

That's what came to mind for me too.. just sponge paint different shapes all over it.. or could do big stamps too, if you have any.

stencil for your own designs to match the occasion

plain with beautiful ribbons and bows

We have done both. I love the look of the simple paper with gingham bows. Use a bingo marker and put polka dots all over it:)

We used to use the same thing for our family...we had a huge roll of white paper that we used to wrap presents and the 'giver' would decorate it however they saw fit. I've saved a lot of the hand drawn wrapping paper from the kids and even some from DH. It makes it much more personal.

sponge painting, stamping, just have the kids color pictures on it with markers. Get a bingo marker and stamp those circles all over it. Or buy some inexpensive stickers at the dollar store and stick those on it.

Use it plain and add a plaid bow, or use it plain with a raffia tie for a more country look.

Photocopy some pictures of the person the gift is for and glue them on the package.

You can use the following instructions to make the brown paper look like leather. That would look neat as a wrap on a gift: http://www.ehow.com/how_6122684_make-paper-look-like-leather.html

Or you can just use it to cover your kids school books rather than those stretchy covers, then they can doodle or write their assignments right on the cover. When it gets covered, no problem, you can put a new one on it. :goodvibes
Use a paintbrush to spread some Elmers Glue on it, then add some glitter (if you do the glue in stripes or polka dots thats the only places the glitter will stick

Don't forget: You can use this for school book covers, too!!

About the wrapping paper? You can use stickers, stencils, glitter glue, ribbons, etc. Just let your creativity flow!!!!

My friend makes her own Christmas wrapping paper every year. Has her kids make red and green hand and foot prints all over it. Cute.

We do either brown or white some years at christmas and we decorate them according to our tree colors. We use colored raffia or ribbon or tulle to tie ribbons. We also get feathers and things to decorate them with to make the presentation of the package look special.

You can also splatter paint or spray it.
To splatter, you can use a toothbrush, dip it in paint and pull the bristles back, then let go to splatter, or shake paint on from a paintbrush.
To spray, dilute paint and put it in an old spray bottle, then spray. Really pretty to use two colors and spray here and there.
You can also do a stencil or reverse stencil (put shape done, paint over, then remove shape) with these paint techniques.
