Places you never thought you would try but liked!

Okay so Yak & Yeti, Nine Dragons and Wolf Gang puck.... all places I have considered before. Captian's Grill is a little off the beaten path for us. But thanks for the suggestion. It does sound delish! Oh and Boma. I have eaten there and was not crazy about it. There are so many places to eat there has to be some other good undiscovered ones out there!

Wolfgang Pucks was a surprise hit, really wonderful food with huge portions, great service, and great view overlooking the lake.

We walked in to Yak and Yeti on a whim since it was empty last week, and were very pleasantly surprised by how good the food and service was!

Add one more for Yak & Yeti. I was pleasantly surprised when my BF and I stopped in to get out of the heat. I still dream about the fried green beans.

My mom and I had a great meal one year at Maya Grill at CSR. The restaurant was empty and it was a nice respite from the craziness of the parks. The food (while not Mexican in anyway) was delish.

We love Maya Grill! Awesome food with large portions! This is our stand by. We have stayed at CSR several times and will agian this trip.

Mickie Niki thansk for the suggestions! I will have to check them out too!

Where is BlueZoo (?) and Jiko (AK?)
San Angel Inn lunch (EPCOT?)
Sci Fi - we have eaten here and it was okay.

1900 Park Faire. The concierge said it was a buffet for the family, I didn't know she meant YOUNG families. So here my mom, dad, brother (20) and me (17) walk in to the dining room with all these screaming girls dressed as princesses.

But the food impressed all of us and we are planning to eat there on our next trip!

Mama Melrose and Tokyo Dining. We do both nearly every trip now.

Mama Melrose we stayed away from since it's basically "olive gardeny" to us, but we like most of the food and what else is decent in HS? We wanted a change from 50's Prime Time and Brown Derby isn't worth two credits. Tried going to the Boardwalk to eat and return, but it's a long trek, want to stay in the park.

Tokyo Dining we never tried since DH gaks at the sight of sushi and doesn't care for tempura. I like them, so he sucked it up and we got an ADR one night when we changed park plans and the popular places were booked. He was thrilled they had grilled chicken, steak, and salmon too. Last time there he got adventurous, tried some sushi and actually liked it! I think he'll stay with the grilled salmon, but I don't have to drag him when I want sushi anymore.

I have yet to try Yak & Yeti, but will since everyone here gives it a thumbs up. It always closes so early, we like dinner late. We are slaves to Flame Tree for lunch, love the ribs, but will make a lunch ADR at Y&Y the next trip.

Sci-Fi at DHS--my DS and his BFF wanted to eat there and
I hesitantly said yes and we really enjoyed our meal--and none of
us order the Hamburgers (that's the only food people suggest to eat
here) We had the Ribs and pasta with shrimp (all very good).
Loved the atmosphere--much more pleasent to eat at than 50's PT.

Tony's Town Square--was very hesitant because of all the bad reviews
but tried it and loved it and have eaten here for 3 trips in a row--
has been good everytime--no problems.

Absolutly loved "Tutto Italia" this was the best meal of our last trip.
Everything was so freshly prepared and yummy!

All of the places that people rave about we have tried several and
they have been such disappointments--Like 50's PT, Bomas Dinner,
Cinderella Royal Table (castle), Garden Grille(worst)--tied with Chef
Mickeys (awful).

We're going to try several new places this upcoming trip and hoping
they will be good--it's always fun try new places because you never know.

Next trip we're trying:
Yak and Yeti
Grand Floridian Cafe'
Ohanas for Dinner (usually eat Breakfast--very good)
Chef de France
Captains Grille
Boma's (for breakfast this time--since were staying at AKL)

LOVED Boma for breakfast in September and Yak & Yeti was great on our trip a year ago. Enjoy!

Try Chef de France it is very good. We went there out last trip and were very hesistant. We went just to see the "Rat". The food actually was awesome. The french waiter (from france) was very attentive and the service was great. We did not like Boma's for dinner. Hope breakfast is better. Thanks for your tips!

I didn't think myself a fan of German food, but after 5 trips I decided it was time to try it on our June 09 trip. Man, have I missed out. I loved it -- all except the herring salad, which I wouldn't have tried except our lovely server "twisted my arm" to try HER favorite thing on the buffet. Well, I asked, so I had to take her advice -- almost gagged.

But the REST of what I had - the beet salad, the potato soup, the schnitzel, and something I didn't think I would like, but tried, the "werst salad". That was yummy!

What was the Morroccan place? Was it CS or TS? That sounds interesting. My son is only 7 but he is an adventerous eater! He will eat aribic and afghan food so I bet he will try morroccan!

We ate at the Marakesh during our June trip and it was by far our WORST TS meal of the trip. It was one I was looking forward to trying, but I didn't care for the food and I thought that the entertainment was way too brief. I was hoping for much more - if not the belly dancer, at least more of the music. Our waiter was helpful and friendly, but none of us cared much for our meals.

I like middle eastern foods and will still try the Tangierine cafe (CS) on another trip.

For me it was Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco. I loved it, and not just for the belly dancers! The food was very different, delicious, and espically their tea was unique tasting.

The Moroccan place <Tangierine Cafe> is actually CS and I have to say it's well worth it! The portions are pretty large and I bet if your son likes aribic food then he will loooove Tangierine Cafe, it's one of my most favorite CS places to eat at in all of WDW. :cloud9: They will refill your soda for you too. :)

Nine Dragons....I Love Chinese food, but was hesitant form the reviews, but we loved it. The Honey Sesame Chicken was amazing and then BF fried rice was delicious too :)

I will second Tangierine Cafe! I don't care for lamb so I ordered the veggie plate. It is wonderful and very filling.

I may be odd man out, actually enjoying, perhaps even preferring, many of the restaurants that often get poor reviews.

Places we tried, many at DD15's insistence, and were pleasantly surprised by:

Tony's Town Square, loved the chicken parm, fish wasn't bad either
Planet Hollywood, everyone liked the food, both times we visited
Rainforest Cafe'
T-Rex they both serve pretty much the same menu, Alfredo is good, so are the ribs
Sci-Fi Dine-In great atmosphere, good ribs
Garden Grille, the kids loved eating with Chip & Dale, the scenery is nice, and we liked the food.

Tangierine Cafe for SURE! It's just CS, but it is my *favorite* CS in the 'world'. I brushed it off for several trips, assuming I wouldn't like it, but the wraps are so darn good! I crave it and have tried to replicate at home.
