Can you work at Downtown Disney or the hotels' gift stores for merchandising? I've heard both you can and can't.

Florida-Based Walt Disney World Resort Merchandise Cast Members may work at any Disney-Owned and Operated Merchandise Location on Walt Disney World Resort property, including the Downtown Disney Area and the Resort Hotels, as well as the Walt Disney World Resort Merchandise Locations at Orlando International Airport and Disney's Character Premiere Outlet Stores located throughout the State of Florida.

My 20yo did her merch CP at Once Upon a Toy at DTD, then spent some time at WoD. Her BF at the time was merch at Coronado.

I'm currently in Dinoland and what surprised me was that the Midway Games are considered merch, so I had to be trained to be a carnival hawker. :scared:

Yes, you may work at any of the resort hotels, parks or stores in Downtown Disney. I worked merchandise in the Emporium in MK (as well as MK glow) and LOVED it! You may be inside a shop or at an outside vendor cart. However, I've never heard of anyone working at Orlando International airport....

CP's aren't placed at the stores at the airport or the outlet malls, though. they only work the merch locations in the theme parks, water parks, resorts, and downtown disney.

I think too that you can be placed at stores such as the Confectionary and Goofy's Candy Company handling food.

23yo was also merch at the Confectionary and spent her days making fudge and cotton candy, so yes, you are right about that! Part of my Dinoland training also included food-handling as we sell fudge, cupcakes, etc.

When I did merchandise, I mostly worked in Fantasyland (but also was sent to Liberty Square, Adventureland, and Main Street).

Joanna..I would LOVE to work at one of the Candy Shops or the bakery. How do I go about asking for a spot there! Thanks

I would put in a request with your recruiter, asking if it would be possible to work at one of those locations. No guarantees, but it doesn't hurt to ask (and they do try to place you there, if there is room).

Where I am (Saratoga Springs), our area is half QSR and half merchandise. I'm working on getting the merchandise training so I can do either.
