I know there have been threads on this, but I'm really having a difficult time deciding where to stay the night before our cruise (April 2006). I'd love to hear what others do and if they rent cars or how they get around. Please share your experiences and let me know what you think is the best option. We will probably arrive late morning the day before our cruise, so we'll have a good portion of the day to do whatever.

Thanks!

We do not rent a car, as my DH likes to start his vacation right away, and wants to be OFF driving.. :)

We have stayed at Best Western and Comfort Inn and Suites in Cocoa beach..we use a transport company to and fro MCO...On the morning of the cruise, we take a taxi (around 10 $) to the port the morning of the cruise,as I have this NEED to get there early..

I love this area, as there are several shops across the street, pharmacy, grocery, and small restaurants..

A great place for info is dcltribute.com

Well I guess this depends on where you will be arriving. If you are flying into MCO or arriving at PC.

You have many options. We live in NC and normally, but not always drive down to PC. We stay the night at the Radisson. We leave our car there and use their parking and their shuttle takes us to the port. You have to make a reservation for the transportation/shuttle to the port and it is better to do this by calling the resort prior to cruising. We cruise on 9/1 and I made the ressies at the Rad about 3 weeks ago for the room and the shuttle. I took the girls name down so I would not have any problems.

If you need to rent a car, you can do this for about $25 one way to PC. Drop the car off and then you are set. All you have to do is hop on a shuttle the next morning. You can rent another car to drive back.

Many people stay at a hotel near the airport and then they use Disney transportation.

Here is a site to look at for lodging at PC or Cocoa beach. www.cocoabeach.com. Remember there are alot of hotels that offer free shuttle services and normally you do not have to make a ressie for the cruise parking. It is cheapier to by pass that option on the reservation area of the resorts website.

Alot of people stay at Ron Jon's. We have not done so. The place looks amazing and I am sure it would be a lot of fun to stay there. Also at the end of the year a new hotel/resort should be opening that will be able to boast they are closer then the Rad.

Mommasita, which transport company would you recommend for to get to Cocoa Beach from the airport?

I am going upstairs to get my card for the one we used....MARVELOUS...we had them in the middle of a hurricane, and they were amazing, and even gave us their home and cell phone numbers....Our flights changed and our hotels....We even had to disembark early, and they were right there waiting for us each time....

I'll be back to edit this...
