We will be staying at the Raddison Resort at the port the night before our cruise in May and I am needing to know if there are any good resturants nearby. I was considering a trip to the Rainforest Cafe, but I am not sure if we will be stopping in Orlando or not. I will probalby be looking for something familiar or a chain resturant such as Red Lobster, Applebees, TGIFridays or something to that nature. Thanks!!!

Hello there,
There are none of the above in Cape Canaveral or Cocoa Beach - you will find them all on Merritt Island Csway aka hwy 520 - from the Radisson, you are about less than 6 miles from all of them heading West once you are on Hwy 520. You also have Longhorn Steak House, Uno, Olive Gardens, and really they all pretty good for choices.
Here on Cocoa Beach, you will find Durgango's Steak House, Roberto's Cuban Restaurant, Mexican food restaurant, Gregory's to name a few.
Hope that will help with selections.
Always

FISHLIPS!! Awesome restaurant on the Port and not hard to get to, your front desk will give you directions. Atmosphere is kind of Mom & Popish but the food and service were excellent. They also have a gambling boat that leaves from next door. We took a cab and it was $5 one way.

I know its not what you are looking for but for anyone reading this that wants something a little more exotic, there is a very good Indian restaurant a very short walk from the Raddison at the Port. Just aim right out of the driveway and its a block or so down on the right. I've forgotten the name of it but other diners there had come from miles away for a meal. Very good, tasty and cheap.

The only issue we had was the man that served us keep saying "what is such and such like in Switzerland?" and every time we said "we are from New Zealand" - he just didn't get it - I still think he though we were from Europe even though we tried to explain and it wasn't a language barrier thing either - it was just a little odd!

Fishlips is a great restaurant and Norm and I have gone there on a few ocassions since we are friends with folks that work at Sun Cruz Casino - it does have a very good atmosphere, but then it is on the water and that is always a plus for Norm and I. They have a band on the weekend, but I, myself, do not like the "how loud can I scream" music - remember now Norm and I grew up with the 40 and 50's music so that is our perks. The India restaurant is called The Taste of Goa Indian Cruisne and located at 8501 Astronaut Blvd - they have been there about 2 or 3 years - I have never been there, but from what I understand they have a good business. You want a real treat and different but it is in Cocoa Beach, you have The Mago Tree which is located on 118 N. Atlantic Avenue, you have Coconuts on the Beach, then there is Tokoyo Japanese steak house, Italian Courtyard on Hwy 520,- one of the ways to find out what you are looking for is just go to theyellowpages.com and put in restaurants, entertainment or whatever you are looking for and everything you will need is right there.
Hope this helps.

I don't know if you like Thai food but there is a restaurant called Thai Thai that had excellent food. We stayed at the Residence Inn and it was just down the street.

Skip the chain restaurants and treat yourself to Grills. Food is fantastic.

You can check them out at visitgrills.com. Don't forget to print your coupon.

Also there is Kelsey's Pizza right next door to the Radisson. We found their food very tasty and reasonable.

Another vote for Grills. It is a few miles away from the Rad. but it was fantastic. Great service, great food and great atmosphere. We can't wait to go back before our next cruise. :)

We have cruised 3 times. Once we ate at the Radisson. I enjoyed it. This was when we did not have a vehicle, so our options were limited.

Next time we have a car and went to Grills, very nice place on the water, we watched the Magic depart and the food was also good. They too had a band on Saturday night outside.

Next time we went to see the Magic leave from Jetty Park, we liked it there, very relaxing and then we headed down to Durango's. Great steak place.

Is there anything else other than the buffet that is in walking distance from the Radisson?

Another vote for Grills. Love this place, especially watching the ships head out to sea!

In October, we walked right next door to the pizza place. It was fantastic. Family of four and we all loved it. Very pleased with the menu selections. Can't beat the convenience. Great price and service.

Gotta try the sweet fries at Grills, yum! Their prices are average... $5-$7 for burgers/sandwhichs depending on the type. $10-$17 for dinners. Not too bad and the view can be wonderful when the ships come out.
