Placeholder question

I should probably know this, but when booking a placeholder, am I accurate in saying that at least one adult from the original sailing must be on the new booking (i.e., the one made via the placeholder)?

Assuming that is correct, suppose I bought two placeholders on my last cruise, and I want to use them together. If I use myself as the adult on the first new reservation, can I use any adult for the second res?

Thanks in advance.

The adult on the placeholder when you book a specific cruise has to be the same name that was on the reservation when it was made onboard. So, the answer to your question depends on whose name is on each of the placeholders you made and whether there was more than one adult‘s name attached to the placeholder. You can always add people, but you must have at least one adult that matches the original placeholder. Hope that makes sense!

Actually, when we booked our placeholders on the WBPC in March they told us that they do not care what names are on the second room anymore, and just put our names down on the placeholders. So, it looks like that is a change since we did placeholders in July 2019 when they still wanted the list of possible people in the rooms.

Yeah, that’s why I was asking. I am the only adult from my Feb. cruise that would also be going on this proposed upcoming cruise. I was worried they were going to require one of those other original adults to be named on the new rez.

When you made the 2 placeholders on your previous cruise, was your name on both of them? I'm not sure what the official rules are, but in the past my wife and I were able to purchase placeholders using our adult children as the names on them and they were not on the cruises when we booked. We were planning on a family cruise for one of our anniversaries and needed 5 staterooms. On one cruise we booked one placeholder for my wife and I, and one for one of our daughters. On the next cruise we booked 2 more placeholders, one for each of our two other daughters, and then on a third cruise we booked the final stateroom for our son.

On the two from last summer, and others we have booked in the past, we would put my husband and various friends and family on one, and myself and various family and friends on the other. When we booked our placeholders this time we were told that they do not need that information any more.

One of the placeholders has my name listed. The other has “TBD [mylastname]” listed. So I wasn’t sure if it had to be someone who shared my last name, or if it could be anyone.

Good to know about the change. Makes it much easier to use. When we booked placeholders in December 2019 they still required an adult name on each reservation.

I was quite shocked when the gentleman at the future cruise booking desk told us that. We have had to supply specific names of people who may cruise with us for years!
