Tried to google - too much information related to cancellations. Can any of you experts help?

I booked a placeholder in November 2018. Can I extend use of this placeholder beyond 11/20 due to the current circumstances? Thinking March 2021.

Thanks,

Chris

No one has reported any extension to the 24 month limit on placeholder bookings due to Covid-19 (although I think if you booked a cruise with a placeholder and that cruise has been cancelled, DCL is letting you keep the benefits on the new cruise if you took the FCC option). If you find out you can, let us know!

My TA just called dcl to ask this question. I wanted to move my cruise in September further out and keep the placeholder that expires. They told her NO. So I guess I’ll cancel my reservation. You would think they might make an exception to keep more bookings, but it’s not the case.

I wanted to mention I actually email dcl to ask if they have plans to extend the expiration dates of unused placeholders. They said NO. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I have 2 expiring in November 2020 and 1 expiring February 2021.

From what I’m reading here, it sounds like if you move (not cancel) a cruise forward you will lose OBB if it’s past the 24 mos deadline. *But if* DCL later cancels that cruise, they will let you apply the OBB (retroactively) even though they’ve technically expired. They won’t offer you the extra 25% in that case, though. Only people who didn’t move or cancel are being offered that bonus.

Not necessarily true, we moved our cruise from May to August prior to it being cancelled and were given the 25% credit retroactively when they did cancel the May cruise. Several others here have reported the same. As long as you move but don't cancel, you seem to be eligible for the 25%.
