Are you understanding that @ChipTheRescueRanger is comparing different dates which do and do not have the discount eligible? Are you including the fact that the placeholder does not discount port fees, taxes, etc. only the cruise fare?
So, the Magic sailing on 8/6 is in the 25% category. But, the base rate for an Oceanview for 4 people is 9233 (1030.52 taxes). So, that cruise with 25% placeholder is $7183.
The very next sailing on 8/13 is not in the deal, so the regular 10% would apply. Base Oceanview for 4 is 8151 (1052.12 taxes). So, with the regular 10% placeholder, is $7442.
The point is that the cruises that are eligible for this deal have much higher starting costs than the ones that aren't so, the "big savings" is just taking away the premium that Disney listed them for. The deal is essentially negating the added costs that Disney put on these cruises that it perceived to be on premium dates.
(I'm not sure if that's true for all of these sailings, where the ones around them are that much cheaper. I do know that I priced out moving my Treasure cruise from an undiscounted fall sailing to a discounted summer one and the summer with the better placeholder was still more expensive than the fall because the starting rate was so much higher.)
