Placeholder Discount Increased to 30% Off Select Sailings

I am currently watching a three year old video from Bright Sun Films on You Tube reviewing the Wish, and I can see why perhaps the discounts are heavy on it. I know without a doubt, that the choice of a much older ship, the Fantasy, was the right choice.

Another day, another DCL discount. Seems like it would be easier to just decrease prices across the board instead of keeping up with all the different promotions!
Because they don't want to encourage ppl to wait to sail by making the next release so much cheaper- so they discount here and there until the ships fill... It is concerning that the Treasure has summer discounts. I also cannot figure out why no Alaska sailings on the Wonder were included but the ones on the Magic were... Odd choice.

I will say I had a DCL survey earlier this week. 90% off the questions were about price, the economy, and my personal feeling on how our family's financial future felt. They also asked about adult only sailings (everyone knows I want this as a once a year special offering like a DVC member cruise but Im losing hope) and drink packages.

DCL is having a hard time pulling us back. We recently canceled our Treasure booking.

We opted to cancel the Treasure booking to go to the London and Paris for a similar spend (including a longer vacation, upscale hotels, Disneyland Hotel, Paris, for a couple of nights, good theater tickets in London, and a couple of pricey dinners). As much as I love DCL, when I weigh going to the same stale itineraries against seeing parts of Europe we haven't been to, in style, for a similar or less price, the choice is pretty easy.

And when it's time for a tropical vacation, Celebrity is too enticing with a very similar experience, but better food, for much less. We have two Celebrity cruises booked. One of them is an intinary DCL never does anymore (Bermuda from NYC).

We will be back to DCL, but it will either be on a classic ship or when I feel like the price-to-value ratio is better on the newer ones. I love it, but it's hard to peak my interest once I start comparing options for the same vacation spend.

Maybe Disney is seeing a price ceiling ahead? Maybe some of the newer ships are not well liked?
I think the price ceiling is very likely. They're just so expensive right now!

As to the newer ships not being well liked, people seem to love the Treasure. The 3 and 4 night cruises on the Wish are just too short. She's going to be consistently discounted until they offer her longer sailings.

I have not been on the DCL scene since like 2011 I think. And I know I am late to the game, but really seeing what they did with the Wish, and the other ships as well is just sad. We are booked in a 8C on the Fantasy and on the newer ships, they skipped out on the cushion in the huge porthole. That was just cheap!

The capacity of the Treasure is only 4,000. 3,500 seems like a fairly full sailing to me, especially since we all know that a sailing can be 'full' (all staterooms booked) even though the ship isn't at full passenger capacity.
From a staff perspective it's bad. That's 500 less people paying gratuities, and that may be why staff member mentioned it. It sounds about right for an offseason cruise unless they were referring to next week as in Thanksgiving week that would be bad.

It is unclear to me if this applies to any placeholders, or only to newly acquired placeholders starting December, 2025.

The prices for what you get is off for sure. For the first time in forever we did not book a bounce back.

We were fortunate to go on 2 inaugurals this year. The price difference was astounding! The Disney treasure and the RCCCL Star of the Seas. RCCL was 60% percent less than Disney! Granted it was off season and last-minute deal, but it was a balcony on RCCL vs an OV on DCL.

It feels like Disney has shifted their target audience. Like many we love DCL and have sailed for the past 16 years with our kids. We like the classic lines and the new stuff they are coming up with is just not our cup of tea. Loud dinner shows and overpriced shops that take up prime real estate on a ship. Not to say our boys did not have fun seeing who could pick out the most expensive watch. The winner was 60K... ridiculous. The spaces are wasted not well thought out. It is funny how they showcase all the tower "suites" knowing less than .01% of people will actually see and use them. Is this supposed to wow us?

As our daughter stated when we were on RCCL for the first time this year, "Disney thinks they can just slap an IP sticker on it and call it a day and the masses will love it!" This was very evident on the Treasure, yes it was pretty but there was something very off. DCL used to be more than just IP.

So yes, with the competition out there I do think they have hit the ceiling but then again, I thought that about the parks years ago, but they keep raking it in!

I got 4 different emails with the information about the discount with each of my placeholder confirmation numbers so it definitely made it sound like the ones I have already made apply. They aren’t attached to a sailing yet so maybe switching a booked placeholder to one with the discount wouldn’t apply but an open placeholder does, not sure.

Wish is way better than fantasy for disney lovers. Fantasy is better than wish for adult cruisers. Frankly the fantasy is falling a part and has aged poorly. Hopefully the dry dock fixed it up but it seems that was mostly focussed on adding concierge rooms and reducing the size of the adults pool deck.

there are parts of the dream that were designed too "on trend" when the ship opened... especially in the adult areas.

then there are the vibration issues as well on those ships...

It applies to any placeholders. I have been booked with a placeholder for awhile and they emailed saying my new discounted total. Saving $427 from original price on a 3 night

Wow! Are you saying they just gave you money back on a sailing you were already booked on that you used a placeholder to book and you didn't even need to contact DCL to get the money back??
