Place to view NASA launch in WDW?

Another wind violation. Another hold. Window is still open though.

Goddammit Wind! It's really late here but I really want to see this thing launch!

The fog has lifted, but not the wind. And there are other problems. I'll be surprised if this thing goes up.
Viewing : the bridge from BLT to CR is good, but breezy. The outside stair decks in CR are difficult. You'd have to lean out.
The North stairwells in BLT have good viewing over Bay Lake. The windows by the elevators are too narrow and limit the view.

Cycling some fill/drain valves that had caused the issues leading to the current hold. However there is another issue with a separate valve that they are now investigating.

A little more than 30 minutes remaining in today's launch window.

Scrubbed for today. 24-hour recycle, I.e. Try again tomorrow, same time.

Well, that's that. What a shame as it is gorgeous here. Hope to see it tomorrow!

I grabbed a bench at Epcot a number of years ago and that Shuttle mission was scrubbed....took me awhile to figure it out since I didn't even have a cell phone (let alone a smart phone) at the time.

I saw the last Columbia launch from the California Grill observation deck (I believe that since it was a shuttle launch, they were VERY lenient on people going up to the non-restaurant part of the deck) and it was amazing....

I saw a launch from the closest civilians can be, and they scrubbed it 2 times before they could launch it......so we trekked out there 3 nights in a row, at 2am.....

but really, any high place.....like a parking garage or balcony would be perfect....

Or any wide open space that allows you to face east without trees or buildings close in frony of you. At home I stand in my driveway near the street and face east.

We arrive Feb 8 and there is a Space X launch at 6pm that night. We have 515 Calif Grill ressies,so barring a scrub is it safe to assume we can go out on the deck and get a pretty good view?
If its cloudy will we see nothing or might still see a trail? Would binocs help at all?

This is one of the things that I've never done that I will absolutely do on a trip to Disney at least once.

In '99 or so my son and I were walking from the PORS area to the food court for coffee and breakfast and saw a group of people on the bridge viewing a shuttle launch. Very clear column of exhaust and we could see the shuttle itself gleaming in reflected sunlight even after the smoke dissipated. Years later we were taking an afternoon break in our Swan room when we saw on the TV a launch in progress. I Looked out the window and it was plainly visible, as I recall, in the direction of the canal to DHS.
