Does anyone know if there is a place in Key West to buy beer and wine coolers to bring back on board to keep in our cabin? Thanks

I can't really name a specific place that you'll be able to buy alcohol or other drinks but I can tell you they are around. Some even right on the dock. I can also tell you to be prepared to pay out some $$$!

On the way back to the ship during our last visit to Key West I noticed a sign in one of the stores for 12 packs of coke. It was actually a store right on (or next to) the dock. The price? $6.99!

The best place to buy beer, wine and sodas including a cooler would be out on the North Roosevelt Blvd at Winn Dixie, but if you can not get out that far, you can go to Fausto's Market on the corner of Fleming and Bahama Street - Fleming Street is right by Fast BucK Freddie and the Hotel La Concha (Margaretvilla) is also a land mark - you turn East - this is only about 4 blocks south of Mallory Square - the closer you are to the port, the more you are going to pay - if you go on the trolley, you can get off at Winn Dixie - there is also a shopping mall there with less expensive souvieners - Hope this will help -

We took the Trolley around, and one of the stops was near an Eckerd. The prices of the soda and beer were VERY reasonable. This was just off Duvall Street. Once we were done we waited for the next trolley to pick us up and we were back to the ship shortly thereafter.

Thanks everyone for your help!! It's not that we're big drinkers, but saving every little bit of $$ helps. Thanks again!

I did not realize that we could purchase alcohol and bring it back on the ship to drink. Are there any restrictions with this?

How much does the trolley cost, do you recommend doing this through DCL or on our own?

Thanks, Nancy

Nancy - do the excursions on your own - everything is right there at Mallory Square - you get off the ship, walk out of Mallory Square and you will see just about anything you want to do - I do not remember an Eckerd's in Key West except the one out on the Blvd, BUT they were putting in I believe a Walgreen's at what once was the Strand Theatre and then a Believe it or not place - it is right past jimmy Buffet's place on the left side - if you want to save the monies, go to the big shops on the Blvd. The bus goes out there - you can ride all day and get off all day for the same price.
If I can help, just drop me a note.

Definately do the trolley on your own. If you do the DCL excursion the trolley doesn't stop for drop-offs like the regular one does. Also if you buy your tickets online before you leave you can save a few $. Here is the link Key West Trolley

We took it in May of 2003 as far as the Southernmost Point. After pictures there we walked to the butterfuly conservatory, then to Hemmingway's House, then over to Fausto's Market (thanks Shirley). We were picking up pop and water, but they did have some beer and wine if I recall. We then walked back to the ship dropped off our purchases and then went back out to go to the Key West Aquarium. It was a really nice day.

Maybe it is just me today but I found a great deal of humor in your title and question.

Please take no offense when I say I can't imagine what Key West would be like without alcohol. :rotfl:
