My best friend and I are meeting up in Disneyland in 2 weeks. She's lives in Arizona and I live in Oregon, so the first night we get to see one another will be nothing but relaxing time to catch up and hang out. We were hoping to find a place near our resort (HoJo) to have some appetizers and a few drinks. Didn't want to pay the high prices I might expect to see at DTD (correct me if I'm wrong... maybe they're not so high). Do you have any suggestions of somewhere nearby to grab some appetizers and drinks? She is driving so we will have a car, if there's somewhere we should drive. Thanks for your help!

There's a tony roma's just down the street a ways.

But I would go to the ESPN zone - kind of noisy but good appetizers, good drinks - fun atmosphere in the evening.

But for GREAT atmosphere ([pricier, though) - Grand California Hotel has a lovely bar with live piano player, good chatting areas, nice people - very relaxing. (ESPN zone is in Downtown disney and you can walk from hotel - you would probably want to drive to Tony Roma's just because it will be nighttime but it is just a couple of blocks, as I recall).

I wouldn't do ESPN. I'd do one of the GW places, you can google Garden Walk Anaheim and you'll get a bunch of hits. There's also a Joe's Crab Shack down Harbor, a Mimi's right across the street from the HoJo and in DTD I love the Jazz Kitchen or Rain Forest Cafe. All of those have actual bars you can walk up to, sit there and eat. :) Wait, except maybe Jazz Kitchen, I've never eaten at the bar there so I don't know.....hmmmm

I didn't know Mimi's had a bar. We might end up there so we can walk it and not worry about having just one drink. Gardenwalk is a good backup though. Thanks for your help!

Isn't the Menage right across the street and the Bar area meant to be super hip & funky?

Stay away from the Uva Bar. $$$$$
$6.50 for a pint of beer,$11.00 for a Long Island Icetea. :scared1:

The best deal in the area by far is McCormick and Schmicks' happy hour. They have great appetizers for $1.95 and drinks. Its in the Gardenwalk Mall.

If you are hungry the cheeseburger is one of the best around.

I second Mccormick's amazing happy hour food. But...Mimis does have a bar now and I just got this in an email from them:
Mimi’s drink specials 4-7 & 9-close. Wednesdays 1/2 off bottle of wine.

FYI Mimi's has alot better ribs than Tony Romas and cheaper. Last Feb visited both places, and ended getting some ribs from MIMI's as take out. They put Tony Romas to shame, as the ribs were dry rubbed in spices and not drenched in sauce to the point where you couldn't taste the meat at Tony Romas.
