Did you know that Maryborough has its own Mary Poppins Festival

My Mum and Stepdad lives in Maryborough and here is some photos of the area on our recent visit




After watching Saving Mr Banks and Mary Poppins,
we have our own bit of Disneyland in Australia that I never knew

Sure did! I live in Hervey Bay, 30min drive from there. Got to see Saving Mr Banks in Maryborough for free the week before it was released to cinemas in Aus, was very cool function
They have had a couple of Sunrise weather people come to the festival over the years too.

I sat there in the film thinking - that looks nothing like Maryborough!

What the film left out was that the family did a short stint in the NSW Southern Highlands at Bowral - it was apparently the last place in Australia where Pamela/PL/Helen lived before leaving Australia forever.

Bowral tried to launch a Mary Poppins Festival several years ago - but they never seemed to stick with it - i don't know what happened in the end.
