PJs in Public?

I do it every day when i take the kids into school~ sometimes I even do the grocery shopping in them.

I'm just not getting up @ 5 am to shower and then spend 30-40 mins on my hair alone; to have myself ready before getting the kids ready in the am.

So I'm pretty much in them till lunchtime.:rotfl:

But when I pick the kids up I'm ready :)

This isn't new. My friends and I used to wear our pjs out to the 24 hour deli all the time in high school.

This was (amazing to me!)... 30+ years ago!!

I love flannel pj pants and own more of them than i do real pants. They are comfy so i always change as soon as i get home from work..........off goes the work clothes and on goes pj pants and a tshirt. I do go to the small grocery store and take the kids to school in them if i'm off work, but i do do my hair, teeth, make up etc and wear shoes!!!

I do see others doing the same thing and alot of the girls in middle and high school also wear pj pants and sweatshirts to school...........

You don't see people in PJ's around here much. I would never do it, because I always envision my car breaking down and me walking along the road in my jammies and slippers. No thanks.

Now I do wear the mom uniform of velour tracksuit, you know the hoodie and matching bottom. That is my go to errands outfit. DH says it's no better than jammies and won't be seen in public with me, when I'm in them.

I've seen it on teens for a long time, but it seems that in the past few months I see it more and more on adults, including men. I have driven the kids to school in pajama pants when I didn't have to get out of the car but that's about it. Sometimes I don't mind it - for example, when we went to the midnight Harry Potter premiere there were some pajamas there. But my mom had enough influence on me to make me cringe when I see it on adults in the mall or at a restaurant.

I run out every morning with the dog wearing my pj bottoms , sometimes I see someone and wonder what they think seeing me in my bright pink kitty or bright blue puppy, my dark blue froggie etc..... pj bottomes.

I was in the hospital last Dec taken by ambulance and had on my froggie pj bottoms, when they sent me home the next day I said to the nurse I had to see if my DS would stop and pick me up something to wear home and she said whats wrong with thoses motioning to my pj bottoms, I decided she was right and that is how I left the hospital.

My DD14 is a freshmen in High School, she and her friends wear their pj's (flannel bottoms and a t-shirt or hoodie) to school and other public places all the time. In fact, a few weeks ago her school had pajama day and she and her friends decided not to wear pj's and dress nicely. Then a few days after that the school had "dress up" day where the kids could get all dressed up (suits, dresses etc.) if they wanted. So what did DD and her friends wear for dress up day....pajamas and hoodies, they are such weird kids:).

I have seen moms occassionally walk they're kids into school wearing them and once I even saw a girl wearing pj bottoms that had, what I'm assuming to be, a monthly stain on the seat:eek:. This is why we should always get dressed.

Ahh!! Ohh!! The horrors! That is the worst thing I've ever heard!! Disgusting!

And to think I feel really slovenly when I run to the mailbox in my pjs.

Funny this thread should come up today. I was on the playground with my class today around 11:00 a.m. This woman holding a baby came walking through our gate. The baby was dressed in regular clothes and a jacket. The woman was wearing pajamas, a pink robe and flip flops. It was around 50 degrees - not freezing by any means but a little cold for flip flops! After a few minutes, she wandered off through the parking lot and out into the neighborhood. Guess she was just taking her baby for a little walk....in her PJs and robe.

I always thought it was an Indiana thing?? We see it all here! People really love to wear their pajamas and house shoes out of the house.....oh and forget to dress their children (this includes shoes and coats). Ha!

I never see that in my neighborhood ever, but I have seen it while on vacation. I find it odd, it takes one minute to change into pants. Even yoga pants would be a step up and they are still very comfortable.

I think the teens do it for attention.

Who still wears PJ's after you are a kid?

Naked sleeping is where it is at! Granted, you can't run to the store after you roll out of bed, but nothing beats the feeling between the sheets!

I wear my pajamas around the house, never to bed.

The only time I ever go out in them, is to drive ds to school, but usually then I have on bottoms and a tshirt or sweatshirt and I don't get out of the car until I'm home.

Other residents of my apartment building GLARE at me in the morning when I take my dog out in my PJ bottoms. We have a dog run area, so I'm not even leaving the property so I don't think it's a big deal.

So what is the new trend of PJs in public all about? Is this just a Lehigh Valley Pa thing or is this everywhere? Just wondering...

I'm in the same area and it's nothing new to me. I've seen people out in their PJ's for years. People running out for coffee and donuts on a weekend morning, kids walking over to a friend's house to hang out for while. I figure they're comfortable and nothing is exposed so why should I care.

Unless you are talking about people being out in their frilly pink nightgowns with a sleep bonnet and slippers.....that is something I haven't seen.

Things have gotten way too casual whne people feel they can go around in their pajamas! I can't stand seeing people out in public in the jammies.

Going to and from the hospital, getting the paper etc, is one thing but going to the mall or a restaurant or school is too much.

Oh yeah.

The big trend out here is VS sleepwear. You see it all the time. The pajama bottoms, uggs, hair pulled back into a bun, then the hoodie. It's college "chic". :)

I have to admit, I have ran out with my pajamas on occasion. Not the cool ones either. But when I do, 99 percent of the time its late night target runs when I am feeling like crap or we need something vital. Never in my slippers!

The pj pants don't bother me, but when I see people wearing fuzzy slippers out in public it kind of turns my stomach a little. I can't imagine wearing them in public and then wearing them around the house, but I also take my shoes off at the front door too!

My DD went to school in sweat pants and a tee shirt today, she overslept!!!
