PJs in Public?

There isn't any real difference between what I wear to sleep and what I wear to workout as far as style goes, so I guess that probably does look like pajamas to the casual observer. Yoga/lounge pants and tee shirts are my "uniform" for a lot of my errands because I do all my running at once, including a stop at the gym. And I have absolutely no qualms about letting my 2yo stay in her footie jammies if we're just running to the grocery store on a cold morning - regular pants tend to ride up in the carseat, so why not let her stay in the warmer option?

I do have a line, though - I would never go out in my slippers! The whole point of slippers to me is that we can leave our shoes at the door and have something to wear in the house that doesn't track the outdoors muck and snow all over the house. Wearing them outside and getting them just as icky as my shoes would defeat the whole purpose. (Oddly enough, I have no such qualms about being inside and outside barefoot all summer - slippers and the desire to keep the outdoor ick outdoors is strictly a winter weirdness for me).

I see it all the time. I personally won't do it since I live in a small community and don't want to be the next topic at someones girls night out discussion.

One exception :)
Christmas Day. The entire family heads into town in our PJ's to the movie theater and then out to dinner at our favorite Chinese place. The jammie dress code requires slippers and Santa Hats.

I occasionally see it here and while it does sometimes make me think they might be a tad lazy to not bother putting on regular pants, it really is no concern of mine. If I don't like how someone is dressed, I don't look at them. Plus I really have no idea what their circumstances are either.

Interesting, I have never seen this trend in public around here. When I was in elementary school in grade seven and grade eight, there was a brief trend of wearing pajama pants to school but there was no way my mother would have let me out of the house like that.

I am now in university and pajamas are actually not allowed to be worn in lecture halls and public areas like libraries, labs, etc.

The young teen girls still do this around here, not too many others. I have taken my kids to the store in their jammies when they were younger (I didn't want to wait for them to change when I realized I needed to make a late evening run to the store. They thought it was pretty cool and got several comments on their cute PJs.)
I'm more bothered by the tweens/teens here who wear shorts/flip flops/tshirts and no winter wear when its below freezing out. :scared1:!!! I had to force my kids to use real coats when it dropped below 30. They wanted to keep just wearing hoodies. Grrr!

Who still wears PJ's after you are a kid?

Naked sleeping is where it is at! Granted, you can't run to the store after you roll out of bed, but nothing beats the feeling between the sheets!

We're about an hour south of the OP. It seems like 70% of girls between 12 and 23 are dressed in PJ bottoms or baggy sweats, Uggs, a hooded sweatshirt (branded with the name of a college,) a messy ponytail with an elastic headband. 50% of these girls are also carrying a Dooney purse. Even crazier, these appear to be the "cool/popular" girls.

It was 8 :cold: this morning and I was nagging like I do every morning at DD to put her sweatshirt on, I'm not sure she ever actually wears her winter coat except to play in the snow.

:thumbsup2 especially fleece sheets!

I have seen people wear PJ bottoms in public several times. On Monday morning I went to a grocery store to buy a salad and the couple in front of me was were wearing Steelers PJ bottoms.

I'll do school drop off on my day off in my pj's but I don't get out of the car. If I have to get out of the car somewhere then I put on real clothes.

You see it around here a lot especially at places like Walmart and Target. We have tons of college students in our town but its not just teens or college students its adults as well. I usually see at least one grown adult in their pajamas each time I go to Walmart. I leave my baby in his PJ's all the time, but he's a baby.

To each his own I guess, but I think it looks lazy and sloppy. How hard is it to throw on a pair of jeans and real shoes? Its one thing to make a quick run into starbucks or something and another thing to do a whole shopping trip at Walmart.

So what is the new trend of PJs in public all about? Is this just a Lehigh Valley Pa thing or is this everywhere? Just wondering...

unfortunately no. every where I turn it seems like people are going out in public in their PJ's. I hate it.

during the summer my pastor had to publicly tell the church "yes I realize we relax the dress expectations during the summer, but bikinis and pj's are not appropriate for church" you would think that was pretty well understood. go figure.

I do see it a bit all over, but I see it way more at Walmart and the dollar store, than say just the mall. The ones I see all over (in the mall let's say) are teens, and I think it's just a teen fad.

Must be different here, it's more common at the high end speciality mall here, and usually someone getting out of a German made car (Audi, Mercedes, BMW, never seen anyone in a VW, yet).
And usually on people I sure don't want to see in their pajamas.

Never seen it at Walmart or Dollar Store, frankly I suspect most of the folks I see there sleep in their birthday suits, not PJ's.

:scared1: I get cold just thinking about it.

My friend went out like that, with me, and a couple of cute guys called her a frumpy dump. I couldn't have stifled my laughter even if I wanted to.

Ugh don't go there because that'll probably show up at the mall next.

Looks comfy... I could never bring myself to do it though. Seems like a thing for the younger crowd.

New trend? That started long ago when my dd was in middle school I think. She is a sophmore in college now.

They had to make "rules" about wearing clothes. PJ day was very common as a "special day".:lmao:

Ok quit talking about me like that :P I have been known to run Nephew and nieces to school in my pj lounge pants and I had been know to run to post office to get mail in my pj's. Working 3rd shift is nice until u just get comfy in bed and someone needs ran to school, I do draw line and put on my crocs before going out though. AS for running to PO in pjs I'm just to dang lazy to get dressed for a 5 min run when all I want is my dang mail.
