PJs in Public?

So what is the new trend of PJs in public all about? Is this just a Lehigh Valley Pa thing or is this everywhere? Just wondering...

I see it here occasionally. I also see slippers which I think looks goofy. Plus slippers aren't built to withstand walking on hard pavement and the like so they looks pretty scraggly. But to each their own.

I occasionally run out in my pj's (flannel bottoms and t-shirt) if I am just making a quick run to a Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks.

I don't get it either. I mostly see it with teenagers, but not always. It is a common site at the Mall of America and other malls.

I have seen moms occassionally walk they're kids into school wearing them and once I even saw a girl wearing pj bottoms that had, what I'm assuming to be, a monthly stain on the seat. This is why we should always get dressed.

It's around here... got really bad in my high school a couple of years ago and since, the Board banned 'jammies as "school wear". I still see it out in public on occasion.

I do see it a bit all over, but I see it way more at Walmart and the dollar store, than say just the mall. The ones I see all over (in the mall let's say) are teens, and I think it's just a teen fad.

But I sort of think it's like our grandparents would always have comments on everything "the way these kids today dress!", etc, etc... but it's adults today too, which I find a bit amusing. At least they're covered up though, right? I've seen some larger teen girls dressing in a way that makes me almost throw up in my mouth a little - I'd rather see them in pj's than the belly shirts and short-shorts they think they look good in.

I was at the local credit union about a month ago and a woman was in full out fleece pink pajamas with slippers and a leather coat! She was there to talk to somebody about a loan, now wouldn't you think you would want to make a better impression than that when asking to borrow money?

Not a new trend at all. I went to College in the Reading, PA area back in the 90's and PJ's were all the rage. They were pretty much all-day attire...class, convenience store, to the bar at night...PJ's.

Come to our WaWa on a Saturday/Sunday morning and it's PJ-palooza! And it's not just teenagers, either, I see 50 year old men in their Eagles PJ bottoms picking up a newspaper and coffee!

I love it, since, to me, being comfortable is wayyy more important than any sort of fake rule a fashion maven tries to force on society so they can sell more overpriced clothing.

She was requesting a loan, she asked for the loan request paperwork and for a meeting with the loan officer. They were already with somebody so they told her it would be half an hour.

Me too...and one time I did run out to the grocery store in them before I snowstorm because I actually did need bread, milk and TP

Yep - we did it in college 15 years ago on a regular basis. Nothing new. Of course this is coming from the woman who wore her PJs to take her DS to school this am. While *I* changed out of my PJ's to run into target (sorta, I switched pants but kept the same sweatshirt on) I didn't bother changing DD3.

I always see lots of little kids in PJs when I stop there after school drop off and I know my neighbors do school drop off in PJs.

At least they're covered! But the old-fashioned person in me does think it is makes people look a little sloppy/lazy. I wear jeans and sweaters every day so nothing fancy but I do put on real shoes and brush my hair and usually apply a bit of makeup before heading out.

I was at the grocery today and saw a 30-something mom in PJ pants, a t-shirt, and slippers. Her toddler and preschooler were in full zip-up footy pajamas, no shoes, carrying blankets and teddy bears. It was just funny because the three of them looked like they had literally just rolled out of bed and it was nearly noon.
