PJ's at a hotel...appropriate?

Ok my dh and I have a small debate going on. I say that you should not walk through a hotel (to get ice for example) in your PJ's. I think since you are out of your room and in public then you need to wear actual clothes. My dh has the idea that being at a hotel is like being at a big slumber party and heading to the ice/vending machine in your PJ's is fine. What do you think?

If the ice machine was on my floor and I didn't have to walk through the lobby to get there, I would stay in my PJ's or maybe put on my robe. If it required me to get in an elevator or go through the lobby at all, I would change.

ITA....

Teens seem to get away with this all of the time... If the ice machine were just down the hall then I don't really see a problem, but if the getting to the ice machine requires you crossing thru the heavily populated lobby then I would consider getting dressed. Over all, not a big deal in my book.

I think it's fine as long as your PJ's are not too revealing. There's no way I'm going to get dressed just to go one or two doors down to fill an ice bucket in the middle of the night. I have even been known to partake of a continental breakfast in my PJ's... just to run down & get some muffins, etc. to bring back to the room. (not at WDW, but someplace like a Holiday Inn or a HoJo.)

Unless you're evacuating due to a fire or other emergency, you should never leave your room in your PJ's.

The only other exception I can think of is if you and your traveling party have an entire floor to yourselves. I've had that situation before, where my group had a block of 30 rooms--the entire floor.

When traveling I bring PJ's along that are like a short set, just for this reason. On my last trip to WDW I stayed at CR and every morning I went down to get a cup of tea and something to eat at the Food and Fun center in my short set  . They don't look like PJ's. Hopefully I didn't offend anybody.

Heck if I know the answer. :confused3 Things are not the same as when I *thought* I knew everything. :teeth:

Speaking of pajamas...people on an AMTRAK passenger train actually put them on and slept sitting up in their seats. I think I've pretty much seen everything now. :bitelip:

I agree....If I am wearing pj's-consisting of pants/shorts and a t-shirt then I have no problem going to get ice in it..

yep, if where I need to be is on my floor and doesn't involve the lobby I will wear my pj's  I couldn't care less :) I have cute jammies :teeth:

Around here they wear PJ's to Wal Mart.
I have no problem going down the hall in PJ's to get ice or a paper.
I wouldn't do it at a 4* hotel though.

My Pjs are usually pretty much men's boxer pants and a t-shirt, so I would be wearing what most teens wear out of the house anyways, LOL

Now, a negligee...no, I wouldn't wear that in the hallways of a hotel.

It depends what they look like. I wouldn't care as long as they aren't see through and nothing can slip out. :teeth:

Same here. I usually wear my jammies WITH flip flops but I have been known to *gasp* go bare foot!!!! :bitelip:

Me too! DH on the other hand, changes into jeans and polo shirt. I agree, if going through the lobby is required, take the effort to put a little something more on, but just for ice down the hall....no way.

I neglected to mention my disclaimer: my PJ's don't look like PJ's. They consist of either a top & pants set or a top & shorts set. When at WDW I wear pink ones with little Grumpys on the capri pants, and a big Grumpy on the tshirt top. I have also worn these to work when we had a "pajama party" themed day & dressing up could earn you prizes. Most people didn't realize I was dressed up until they saw the pants.

LOL, me too. Actually, I do that alot, in jammies and in just shorts and t-shirt. When I am on vacation, I am relaxing and not worrying about what others think.
